We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Software engineering to join our client, as they begin their next stage of growth. Our client has built an award-winning SaaS platform which is shaking up the financial services industry and with further investment coming into the business, the next 24 months look extremely exciting for all involved.


About the role:

This role is a hybrid position, requiring at least two in-office days a week. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, hands-on technical leader with extensive experience in C# (.NET Core) and React.


Additionally, you should have a proven track record of driving technical direction, shaping culture, and refining engineering practices within a team. You should possess a passion for technology along with strong people management skills.


Your experience should encompass building both front-end applications and back-end APIs, selecting appropriate tech stacks, and establishing tooling for optimal Developer Experience (DevX). You'll aim to support the team in producing well-tested, easily maintainable, and deployable code.


In addition to coding, the ideal candidate will be instrumental in fostering a self-managing, high-performing development team. This role involves conducting interviews, mentoring developers, and promoting agile methodologies. You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders to translate ideas into actionable Jira tickets. Clear communication of technical task priorities and collaboration with product managers to develop a prioritized backlog will also be essential.


What our client is looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Proficient in .NET Core, C#, React, and other pertinent technologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership in agile development teams
  • Preferred background in initiating and cultivating development teams
  • Strong aptitude for fostering positive working relationships
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills


Our client is willing to pay £80,000 - £90,000 for the right candidate.
