Job Description
Job Title: Head of Software Engineering
Location: Derby (Remote/Hybrid)
Salary: Up to £80,000 DOE
We are currently looking for a Head of Software Engineering for a technology-driven organisation.
This role will head up a software engineering department and manage a team of software engineers. You will lead the software engineering team to develop, maintain and support software applications, as well as driving innovation, performance and quality.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background with hands-on software engineering experience, as well as a proven record of leading software engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage a team of software engineers and ensure that they are motivated and performing to the highest standards
* Oversee the development of software applications, ensuring that they are developed according to the specified requirements and standards
* Identify and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently
* Ensure that software applications are tested and released on schedule
* Develop and implement software engineering best practices
* Work with other departments to ensure that software applications are compatible with other systems
* Develop and maintain software engineering policies and procedures
Technical Skills:
* PHP \ Vue.js (with supporting systems in C#), MySQL, MongoDB and MS-SQL databases.
* Agile expertise and experience including JIRA\Confluence and similar toolsets.
* Extensive experience in software engineering and development
* Hands-on experience with various programming languages and frameworks
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
* Knowledge of software engineering best practices and standards
* Good understanding of software architecture
* Excellent communication and leadership skills
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
