Job Description

This is a great opportunity for a dynamic and highly motivated individual to be a member of the Perenco Wytch Farm QSSHE Team. The successful individual will play a key role in ensuring the business remains compliant with all relevant statutory provisions, codes and standards and good practice. This is achieved by translating the requirements of the law/good practice into everyday working policies, procedures and processes.


You will provide day-to-day coaching and advise to other departments such as Integrity, Operations, Well Operations, Drilling, Projects and Decommissioning in terms of assuring compliance with Perenco policies, procedures and processes and also support these departments in terms of facilitating risk reviews/assessments, inputting to QSHE Plans, supporting audits of contractors and service providers.


This is a full-time office-based role working Monday to Friday.


Key Responsibilities Include:


  • Maintain awareness of relevant statutory provisions, codes and standards and good practice as they relate to Occupational health and safety and ensure any requirements are effectively complied with through the implementation of Perenco’s internal policies, procedures and processes – making adjustments to these as required.
  • Provide HSE Leadership at all times when on site or whilst supporting other departments in the effectively execution of Perenco’s internal policies, procedures and processes. Develop a programme of visits to operational sites.
  • Provide support, coaching and advice to teams to ensure the effective implementation of Perenco policies, procedures and processes.
  • Provide support (advice, coaching or facilitation) to the other departments in the form of risk reviews/assessments, decision making, contractor/service provider selection, inputting to QSHE Plans, onsite assurance etc.
  • Work to resolve issues with Perenco policies, procedures and processes to ensure their effectiveness. Act as a conduit for continuously improvement.
  • Provide support and coaching during incident investigations to ensure direct, indirect and root causes of incidents are effectively identified and SMART actions generated to reduce the likelihood of reoccurrence.
  • Ensure effective sharing of lessons learned throughout the business.
  • Participate in Risk Assessment, HAZID and HAZOP workshops as required for onshore facilities during the design, construction, operations, commissioning and decommissioning phases.
  • Review and evaluate plans and procedures developed by Contractors to eliminate, control or mitigate potential health and safety hazards.
  • Ensure adequate assurance processes (inspections and audits) are undertaken of all operational sites covering the full range of health and safety standards, guidelines and procedures.
  • Provide advice on any specialised PPE requirements
  • Provide support in the execution and delivery of COMAH updates and the program of 5-yearly Thorough Reviews
  • Provide input to (and support delivery of) QSHE Plans and Programmes.
  • Coordinate Occupational health and safety campaigns to improve knowledge and understanding of operational / work related hazards and risks and compliance with relevant internal processes and procedures.
  • Liaise with relevant Regulatory Bodies (particularly HSEx) on health and safety matters and assist with planned Inspections, including follow-up and closure of actions.
  • Seek ways of further developing skills and knowledge base to support the business.
  • Participating (from time to time) as an incident investigation team member and/or providing advice to other investigation teams.
  • Providing support to the WYF Emergency Response Arrangements as required, active member of the Incident Management Team (IMT)
  • Seek ways of further developing skills and knowledge base to support the business.


Key Qualifications/Experience:


  • Ideally HND/Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (either NEBOSH or NVQ)
  • Understanding (or relevant qualification/training) in onshore legislation
  • 5 years+ experience within Oil & Gas industry
  • Ability to interact, present to, and negotiate with senior management on QSHE issues
  • Ability to manage regulatory relationships (e.g. maintain relationship with HSE)
  • Good leadership skills with the ability to guide site-based Medic HSEAs on matters of Health and Safety
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to present articulately to a variety of forums and through a variety of mediums.
  • Drive to champion Health and Safety for the business, including influencing management on key topics.
