Job summary Working Full time : hours per week An opportunity has arisen for a Health and Safety Manager to provide expert support, training and advice to the Trust and its staff on all aspects of Health and Safety. The successful candidate will ensure that the Trust is able to demonstrate full compliance with legislation and the workplace standards and support the provision of a safe environment for our patients, visitors and our staff. Reporting to the Head of Estates, the Health and Safety Manager oversees day to day management of the team and delivery of effective Trust wide systems and processes. You will effectively gather and act upon health and safety information in line with current legislation, regulations, policy, guidance and good practice. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will provide competent and impartial H&S advice to managers and staff of all levels. Working closely with the Estates Team, Capital Projects, and Management Group and Senior Managers, the post holder will lead on key H&S issues to influence and deliver short, medium, and long-term implementation plans specifically for health and safety management. You will represent the Trust at regional IOSH Health and Safety meetings and attending regular strategic meetings and training updates to maintain compliance with all statutory and legal requirements. As the Trust's senior competent person in Health and Safety, the post holder will act as an expert resource in providing the knowledge and skills to assist in the generation of a positive health and safety culture throughout the Trust, continuously working towards the implementation of external requirements under HSE/Care Quality Commission outcomes. Person Specification Qualifications Essential NEBOSH level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or NEBOSH Certificate with required health and safety experience Educated to masters/post Graduate qualification in relevant field or equivalent knowledge and experience Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Desirable Qualification in training or experience of delivering training Knowledge & Experience Essential Substantial Health and Safety knowledge, preferably within a healthcare environment. Experience of risk management. Comprehensive, current knowledge of health and safety legislation Desirable Knowledge/experience of NHSLA/CQC/Standards for Providers outcomes compliance.
