Reporting directly to the Chairman you will have a hands-on approach and be responsible for maintaining, administering and reviewing the company’s Health & Safety Policies, arrangements and risk assessments, ensuring procedures adhere to current legislation. The company uses AW Safety Ltd’s suite of documentation. You will actively promote best practice for health and safety across the company.

 

Key to this role is the ability to build strong and collaborative relationships with people across all areas of the business. Your inclusive approach will really engage with people and help us drive our health and safety systems forward. Your knowledge, skills, and personality will enable you to respond to challenges through negotiation and influence, gaining the support and confidence of managers, stakeholders and external parties. This is a standalone role.

 

You must be able to demonstrate sound management experience in H&S processes and procedures in accordance with recognised standards. You will be resilient, pragmatic and confident in decision making, an effective problem solver, self-motivated and able to identify and make recommendations for business improvements.

 

You will be required to do 3 visits (inc 1 audit) per branch per annum. You will work closely with the H&S Committee to develop a positive health and safety culture, engaging managers to deliver a safe place to work.

 

Duties & responsibilities:

·        Practice safe working techniques and re-enforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company.

·        Provide daily guidance and direction in Safety, Health and Environmental programs at the employee / supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach.

·        Carry out H&S inspections and 1 full audit of all locations per annum.

·        Investigate and follow up accidents, liaising with HR where potential misconduct issues or repeat incidents.

·        Issue documentation to staff where necessary.

·        Work alongside our H&S consultants, maintain and update as needed risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work for work activities and work equipment.

·        Develop and deliver training with Toolbox Talks to encourage a positive culture and attitude towards Health and Safety.

·        Provide advice, assist and audit systems of work to ensure that effective EHS is implemented and working.

·        Coordinate and manage the organisation’s emergency arrangements including fire and first aid to ensure effective control and compliance.

·        Ensure inspections by enforcing authorities are coordinated and any actions addressed.

·        Take ownership for continued professional development and changes in regulations. Tips: Provide a summary of the role, what success in the position looks like, and how this role fits into the organization overall.


Essential Skills/Experience/Requirements:

·          NEBOSH Level 3 is essential

·          Diploma Level H&S qualification is desired.

·          Experience of accident investigation

. Knowledge of the Agricultural industry would be advantageous.

·          Experience of auditing multiple sites.

·          Administratively organised.

·          Competent IT skills including Word, Excel and Web applications.

·          Excellent written and verbal skills.

·          Team player and able to build and maintain relationships both internal and external.

·          Full driving license
