Health And Safety Solicitor Job In Reading

Our customer, a British Energy Company is looking for a Health and Safety Solicitor for a long term contract role.

You will assist in managing the response to safety incidents to protect the company’s gas distribution network and associated interests.

Responsibilities:

• Overseeing key relationships within the business and further strengthening external legal panel collaborations in line with the company's strategic goals
• Delivering timely, effective, and commercially viable legal advice on all health and safety litigation matters to minimize financial and legal risks
• Contributing to the development and implementation of new procedures and standard form templates to ensure compliance and protection
• Ensuring that legal services are provided in accordance with the company's internal governance, statutory powers, and license obligations
• Providing regular updates, guiding clients and management teams on progress
• Promoting the outstanding reputation of the Legal Services Department and continually striving for its improvement.

Requirements:

• Qualified solicitor in England, Wales, or Scotland (6 years post-qualification experience preferred but not mandatory)
• Background in providing legal services and expertise across various company departments;
• Demonstrated skills in negotiation and conflict resolution, with the ability to offer practical commercial solutions for complex issues
• You are comfortable presenting to key internal and external stakeholders, both in writing and verbally
• Experience working in-house within the Energy sector is beneficial but not essential.
