The Thames Water Strategic Resource Options project portfolio has a significant level of investment over multiple-AMPs to improve resilience to drought whilst protecting the environment.
What you'll be doing
You will support the Thames Water Strategic Resource Option (SRO) Portfolio team to develop and deliver the SRO Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) strategy.
You will be part of the team responsible for ensuring that the projects' requirements and outputs are aligned with the needs of the Water Resource Southeast Regional Plan and our Water Resource Management Plan, both of which are currently in consultation.
The consultation process will help to define and prioritise the programme for developing the proposed options which are currently at concept design phase. The initial focus will be on the Southeast Strategic Resource Option (SESRO) reservoir, the Severn to Thames Transfer project and London Recycling scheme.
You will work closely with the SRO Project Definition Managers and TW HSW team to ensure the projects meet the sponsor's Health, Safety and Wellbeing requirements.

  • Work with the Head of SRO Engineering and the wider SRO Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement an HSW Strategy and Plan
  • Drive a culture of safety and performance management across all teams.
  • Work with the wider Thames Water HSW team providing expert guidance, advise and support for complex or technical issues
  • Provide an important link with the wider business, particularly the Engineering and Asset team and Operations as part of the Intelligent Client model. Ensure there is consistency in application of HSW standards and interpretation of technical guidance across the TW SRO portfolio.
  • Work in a matrixed approach to utilise technical skills across the company to deliver the required input to the projects and maintain and enhance business processes.
  • Support the Enterprise Risk Management processes for relevant HSW risks
  • Support the development of the Safety Management System by providing advice and guidance for the development, revision and update of relevant standards and documentation.
  • Provide other relevant advice and support as may be required relating to technical knowledge and competencies for the SRO Portfolio.
What you should bring to the role
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • Chartered membership of IOSH
  • Significant post-qualification experience with relevant experience in water industry
  • Previous experience of working at management level
  • Experience of people management and leadership
  • Highly developed communications skills both written and verbal
  • Fully competent at using the appropriate IT systems and office software
  • Extensive knowledge of large-scale construction projects and thorough knowledge of the CDM Regulations
  • Valid UK driving licence
