Job summary Health Care AssistantAn opportunity hasbecome available for Health Care Assistants at Primary Care SheffieldPractices, for 18 hours and 26 hours per week at Heeley Surgery, Darnall Primary Care and North Darnall Health Centre.We are looking for a reliable,enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Assistant to work with this forwardthinking service, which provides excellent care and has a passion for improvinghealth outcomes for patients.PCS Practices sit acrossSheffield and ideally applicants would drive or travel freely as we may needthem working in different sites on different days. We are a very friendly and close-knit teamconsists of GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Clinical Pharmacist,Physio, and other Healthcare Assistants and an experienced administrativeteam. The work is always interesting andoften challenging however it is also hugely rewarding. The team is supportive,with excellent and experienced clinical support on site. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will bea Health Care Assistant who, as a minimum, is trained or is able to be trainedin venepuncture, BP checks, flu vaccines and simple wound care and training forthese tasks can be provided if necessary.In your role as HCA you willbenefit from our nurse group meetings and regular educational meetings tosupport your learning and development.On appointment you will have a short induction into the service andsupport will always be available when needed from our Clinical Nurse Lead. Job description Job responsibilities Main Duties and Responsibilities:PhlebotomyHealth ChecksBasic Wound CareEar irrigationPre Diabetic checks, including foot checksProcessing and management of laboratory samplesrequested by GPs/nursesB12 injections and flu vaccinationsBP/weight/height checksChaperoning dutiesCleansing and maintenance of surgical equipmentas necessaryClearing and re-stocking of consulting roomsMedical consumables stock control and orderingPreparing and maintaining environments andequipment before, during and after patient care interventionsAssisting in the assessment and surveillance ofpatients health and well-beingUndertaking specific clinical activities fornamed patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation tothat individualHelping to raise awareness of health andwell-being and how it can be promotedAssisting with the collection and collation ofdata on needs related to health and well-beingEscalating clinical and safeguarding concerns appropriately. Person Specification Qualifications Essential NVQ III or relevant equivalent training, knowledge and experience in a Health Care Assistant profession. Phlebotomy training. Desirable Wound management Spirometry Vaccination training Experience Essential Working with people including those from different cultures and backgrounds.
