Job Description

We are here to support , promote and develop voluntary and community action in Middlesbrough

The Nepacs’ Helpline was established in 2020 to help people navigate their way through the criminal justice system from the point of arrest, to court, prison and on release. The aim is to reduce the level of confusion and distress experienced, particularly in the early days of custody. The helpline works closely with Nepacs’ projects including the “Support at Court” project, prison based Family Support Workers, Children and Young People’s projects and Visitor Centres, to make sure families are offered ongoing support.

Stigma, isolation and trauma are just some of the consequences experienced by families when the justice system becomes a part of their lives. Nepacs strongly believes that no one should ever feel along in these situations, and that everyone should have access to the information, practical help and emotional support they need to cope and ultimately thrive.

The purpose is to make a positive difference to families and individual involved in the criminal justice system. The helpline service is aimed at adults and is a combination of telephone, email and text support.

We are looking for a Helpline Coordinator to lead a team of volunteers and placements to deliver a high quality helpline service to those involved in the criminal justice system, whilst working closely with Nepacs’ projects and external agencies. The Coordinator will also raise awareness of common issues for families through reports and campaigns, to influence change.

The contract is fixed term until 31 March 2024 and is subject to DBS checks and pre-employment checks. We welcome applications from people from all sectors of our diverse communities and all backgrounds.

The closing date for this job is 21 July 2023 - 12:00pm.
