Job Description

On behalf of our client based in Buckinghamshire M4 Specialist is looking for a HGV Mechanic to work on their fleet. You will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of our fleet of heavy goods vehicles, ensuring they remain safe and operational at all times. This role requires a keen attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service. Responsibilities: Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs to identify and address any issues before they become major problems. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems and develop effective solutions to resolve them. Conduct repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and other components of HGVs. Replace faulty parts, including but not limited to, belts, hoses, bearings, and brake pads. Perform diagnostic tests using specialized tools and equipment to pinpoint issues accurately. Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and manufacturer specifications. Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and hours worked. Assist in maintaining a clean and organized workshop environment. Collaborate with other members of the maintenance team to prioritize tasks and ensure efficient operations. Stay updated on industry advancements and new technologies in HGV mechanics through training and professional development opportunities. Requirements: Proven experience as an HGV mechanic or similar role, preferably in a commercial fleet environment. Certification or formal training in diesel mechanics, automotive technology, or a related field. Strong knowledge of HGV systems and components, including engines, transmissions, and braking systems. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues. Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams to perform repairs and maintenance tasks. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship. Physical dexterity and strength to lift heavy parts and equipment as needed. Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record may be required. Preferred Qualifications: Additional certifications or specialized training in HGV maintenance and repair. Experience working with specific HGV brands or models. Knowledge of computerized diagnostic systems and software. Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and customers.
