Job Description

We are looking to appoint a Full Time Highly Specialist Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to work in the Early Intervention in psychosis service in Redbridge.

The post holder will join a well-established and supportive early intervention in psychosis service for people aged between 14-65 who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis and their families. The team offer NICE concordant care, which includes an emphasis on access to Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Family Interventions and Trauma focussed Interventions (e.g. Narrative Exposure Therapy, EMDR).

The team includes a Band 8b Clinical Psychology Pathway lead, two Band 8a clinical/counselling psychologists, a Band 7 Family Interventions worker, and an assistant psychologist who offers a well-being and support package to carers.

We would be happy to discuss the possibility of setting up this post as Band 7 position with a development plan to allow progression to an 8a.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide psychological assessment, individual therapy, family interventions and group work. The post holder will be expected to work closely with the multidisciplinary team and offer consultation on psychological approaches to working with psychosis, as well as teaching and supervision of recently qualified, assistant and trainee psychologists.

The post will suit enthusiastic psychologists with a passion for developing and implementing evidence-based psychological therapies with this client group and working with multi-disciplinary teams.

The post holder will be expected to participate in supervision and CPD focused on evidence based interventions in psychosis. We offer monthly group supervision in Family Intervention in psychosis and Narrative Exposure Therapy. In addition the post holder will receive individual supervision.

The Trust has strong links with the UCL, UEL and Royal Holloway clinical psychology courses and several Counselling Psychology courses and the post holder will be expected to supervise trainee psychologists when appropriate. Current members of the department are engaged in teaching and research projects with local clinical training course.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High-CostArea Supplement

This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of 4,313 and a maximum payment of 5,436 per annum pro rata).
