Vanquish Fitness is an apparel brand and online retailer, designing trend-defining men’s and women's fitness apparel, which is sold from our direct-to-consumer eCommerce store to millions of fans and customers worldwide. Our mission is to inspire and champion the inner athlete in their pursuit of self-defined greatness and provide the platform and resources they need to become better than yesterday. Since launching, Vanquish has grown to an 8-figure, profitable annual revenue brand, and we recently moved to our new HQ in Enfield, North London, 5 - 10 minutes from the M25 and national rail.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced HR Manager to join our growing team in a brand new role at Vanquish Fitness. Reporting directly to the Founders, you will have full responsibility for overseeing and managing all aspects of the company’s HR needs on a day-to-day basis. Key responsibilities include recruitment, employee engagement and relations, internal communications, benefits and holiday administration, onboarding, organizing company socials, and supporting the company’s overall strategic and growth goals.

As a key member of the Vanquish team, you will be responsible for creating an engaging and positive work environment, championing employee engagement and culture, as well as overseeing the entire employee lifecycle. We are looking for a strategic, forward-thinker with at least 5 years of experience in HR, preferably in-house or in a smaller start-up environment. You must have a strong understanding of UK employment legislation and be CIPD level 5 qualified.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. PEOPLE:

    1. Manage the recruitment process - Compiling job specs, shortlisting candidates, and carrying out first-stage screening interviews
    2. Manage the hiring process - Compiling job offers and contracts and onboarding new employees
    3. Oversee and support Heads of Departments on day-to-day HR needs as well as growth and development of the Vanquish team, ensuring employees have the support they need to reach their full potential
    4. Ensure UK employment legislation is adhered to in all processes
    5. Implement new processes within HR and ensure internal databases are always up to date
    6. Manage analysis and delivery of employee feedback and data, reporting to Heads of Departments with the aim of creating an engaged culture
    7. Handle internal staffing issues such as mediating disputes, handling grievances, and directing any disciplinary procedures, ensuring correct processes are followed
    8. Identify training and development needs to support career growth for employees
    9. Review and manage benefit scheme and perks to ensure these are constantly up to date and employees are using them appropriately
  2. CULTURE:

    1. Be an ambassador for employee engagement practices and champion the link between employee engagement and business performance
    2. Identify key areas to improve and elevate the company culture and take responsibility for maintaining this
    3. Take ownership of all company social events, liaising with CFO on budgets and overseeing expenditure on the day
    4. Oversee Birthday calendar and ensure employee personal milestones are recognized
    5. Work with our Social Media Manager to ensure the company culture is translated across our LinkedIn page and appropriately via other social media channels
    6. Respond to the cultural needs of a dynamic and fast-growing business
    7. Implement company values and ensure these are reflected in everything we do
  3. OFFICE:

    1. Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements within the office including health & safety, risk assessments
    2. Ensure the employee experience is best managed by working with our Business Support Manager to ensure the office is kept to the highest standards and fully stocked at all times, processing orders for new equipment when necessary
    3. Overseeing business policies

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Passionate about People and Culture

Must have a working knowledge of UK employment regulations and the ability to appropriately spot employment risk issues

At least 5 years of experience in HR roles, in house or for a start-up (desirable)

CIPD level 5 qualification

Office management experience would be beneficial

Experience enhancing and developing company culture

Experience managing budgets and organizing company social events

Ability to juggle multiple workstreams

Confidence and ability to interact and communicate comfortably with employees at every level of the company, remaining neutral and handling situations in a diplomatic manner

Approachable and understanding

Good energy and positive approach to work
