Salary: £36,745 – £56,959

Type: Full-time, Permanent

Start Date: September 2024 or ASAP


We are excited to be supporting this community Academy based at the heart of Southwark who have an exceptional opportunity for an outstanding teacher to join their thriving Humanities team.


The core purpose of this post is to teach Geography initially to KS3 and 4 but building to KS5 as the school grows. It is expected that the successful candidate will consistently plan and deliver outstanding lessons within the department.


You will be an innovative and forward–looking individual who can inspire students and contribute fully to a very active Humanities team. This post is suitable for ECT’s and experienced candidates.


Key Responsibilities

  • work within and contribute to established Academy and department frameworks for lesson planning, delivery and evaluation.
  • in the assessment process in Geography and work with colleagues across the Academy.
  • actively contribute to the teaching of Geography across all age and ability ranges
  • remain informed of current developments in the subject area, to participate in INSET and to initiate change where appropriate.
  • consistently plan and deliver outstanding lessons, ensuring that a variety of teaching resources are utilised appropriately.
  • ensure that students’ work is marked regularly and conscientiously, in accordance with the Academy feedback policy.
  • set and mark internal examinations and assessments as required.
  • demonstrate good knowledge of a wide range of teaching methods and to implement these in the classroom.
  • the positive behaviour for learning policies in lessons.
  • be fully committed to the Academy’s house and enrichment activities
  • possess excellent ICT skills and use these as a core tool in the teaching of Geography.
  • provide accurate information for parents as directed by the Academy and department policy and to attend parents’ evenings and other presentation meetings as directed.
