About The Role
ICT Project Engineer (Network) Corsham (SN13)
Are you a technically capable ICT Network Systems Engineer, or a Systems Engineer with a bias to Networks, that enjoys not only the challenge of supporting and maintaining, but designing for the future in a highly secure environment?Do you revel in situations that require an engineer to specialise in Networks, but are able to wear other hats to help other members of the team in ensuring a fully functional infrastructure, and be relied upon to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
We are looking for Systems Engineers that bring a methodical and dedicated approach to R&D, problem solving, and are able to act quickly in assessing a situation. We want you to relish in the provision of a first class service to our customers and be able to communicate at all levels to ensure understanding. Either working alone or part of the team, we want you to come up with solutions that ensure business continuity or can add substance to new or on-going projects or products.
Key Areas of the role:
Support various stakeholders in the understanding and use of the network ICT systems.
Evaluate potential future ICT and network solutions;
Deliver documentation in support of planning, design and implementation;
Provide 3rd line support as needed for the maintenance of the ICT and its associated hardware/software;
Undertake the deploying of various hardware and operating systems, configuring the system, and producing relevant documentation on the process;
Support other business teams with their specific operational requirements;
Maintain and create when required, documentation and records of systems;
Act as a mentor in areas of specialist knowledge, in support of other team members, and junior support engineers;
Manage any network service disruptions and or connectivity issues, within agreed service level agreements, identifying and resolving any issues;
Assist and advise the customer in the management and monitoring of the security of systems, including data and controlling of access rights;
Capture and analyse customer requirements, providing detailed conclusion and recommendations;
Research, design, development and testing of prospective products and software, as allocated by the line manager;
Take lead and drive to completion, projects and tasks assigned by Team Leader;
Become or be recognised as a specialist in at least one technical subject matter area;
The invaluable experience youll bring, will help us achieve more. We are expecting that youve done this role, or something verysimilarbefore. This means you will know how to do it whilst spinning multiple plates, and therefor we would expect:
Essential Experience:
Experience of Cisco and/or HP network equipment, in areas of configuration and management of Switches, Routers and firewalls (WAN's, LANs, VLANs, ACLs, and routing);
Understandingof the Installation, configuration, management and troubleshooting of Microsoft Windows products (10, Server 2008 R2 to Server 2019);
Understanding of HP Enterprise Data Centre and Storage (Synergy and 3PAR);
Understanding of the Installation, configuration, management and troubleshooting of the VMware product set (ESXi, vSphere and Workstation);
Experience of UNIX and/or Linux operating systems and configuration;
Understanding of Project Management artefacts, process, procedures, reporting and risk management;
Ability to mentor or guiding others;
Able to retain objectivity and proper understanding of a problem or situation, when working under project pressures, whilst delivering to time and budget.
To really hit the ground running in this role, the right candidate will have a deeper understanding of our business and where we strive to be the best, meaning that the following would be highly desirable:
Desired Experience:
Sound knowledge of JSP440 and JSP604;
Sound knowledge and experience of network and communication protocols, based around Cisco and HPe;
Experience with enterprise end-to-end business encryption devices;
Experience with implementing, config and maintaining LINUX servers (Redhat, Kubernetes);
Experience of database software such as MS SQL, MySQL, PostSQL server, Oracle;
Experience of leading others and/or projects from inception to completion.

Appreciation, acceptance and adherence to the constraints of working on highly classified defence platforms;
The role is based in Wiltshire, but may involve occasional travel both within and outside of UK;
Understanding of MoD Procurement process for Hardware, Licensing and Software.
