We are offering a fantastic opportunity for a professional, technically strong and engaging individual to join us as an Associate in our London-based Infrastructure, Energy and Natural Resources (IEN) team.
The practice advises on the full range of transactions in the sector including private M&A, joint ventures, and projects. We are known for our work on a number of ‘first of a kind’ transactions – particularly in Energy Transition, including in the renewables, hydrogen and carbon capture and storage sectors - and we often advise on the highest profile, most complex and most technically challenging projects.
This role will suit associates who have experience and exposure to a broad range of transactions in the IEN sector (including M&A) and would like to experience a broad diet of complex, innovative and strategically important transactions. Candidates should be enthusiastic about retaining a broad practice and prepared to stretch themselves intellectually. We expect our associates to take on responsibility from an early stage, from client contact and managing transactions to coordinating internal teams and other groups. We do, however, aim to ensure associates are given as much responsibility and client contact as they are ready for.
OUR TEAM //
Our IEN practice consists of 25 partners across various practice groups, and is led by a global IEN steering committee of 5 partners. The successful candidate would sit within our Projects team, which is made up of 2 partners, a senior counsel and circa 10 associates.
The work undertaken across the team is broad and includes private M&A and joint ventures, and involves working closely with several corporate and financing partners. The team’s work spans the entire project life cycle, including the formation of joint ventures and structuring of shareholder arrangements; all aspects of M&A; supply and offtake arrangements, power trading and energy services arrangements; construction and O&M arrangements and early-stage dispute resolution. Whilst associates are encouraged to have a broad practice within the IEN space, it is not expected that all associates will be experts within each of those areas.
Our team has advised on many of the largest and most innovative transactions that have taken place globally, including first-of-a-kinds in offshore wind, nuclear, carbon capture & storage and hydrogen. Our focus is on quality over quantity; we do not have a large team doing small to mid-market deals. Instead, we focus on high-value, complex and challenging transactions which are interesting and varied.
The firm is organised into groups that undertake a general spread of work, encouraging lawyers to work on an extensive range of matters. Much of the work spans the globe, with transactions involving our overseas offices as well as leading independent law firms in many other jurisdictions.
