An exciting opportunity has become available within a top 500 recognised law firm in Surrey.
Due to expansion, they are seeking a Senior Immigration Solicitor, with at least 5 years post qualified experience. Complimenting the existing solicitor in the team, you will be required to provide an excellent level of service to clients and managing your own caseload whilst attracting new business to the department.
Areas of focus will include:
- Tier 1 – Entrepreneurs, Tier 1 – Start Up Visa, Tier 2 – Sponsor Licences, Tier 2 – General Visas, Tier 4 – Student Visas and Tier 5 – Temporary Workers
- Family members or dependants’ visas
- Family route visa applications
- EU Settled & Pre-Settled status
- Settlement in the UK
- Naturalisation as a British Citizen
- Visitor Visa & Short-term Routes – Priority Services
- UK Visas
- Audit Services
- Compliance and Training
- Recruitment of migrants
- Temporary visa routes into the UK
- Right to work compliance
Duties will include:
- Managing your own caseload
- Good client care skills, provide professional and competent legal advice in accordance with SRA Code of conduct
- Completing immigration application forms (e.g. Entry Clearance, Extension Leave to Remain and Human Rights Applications)
- Booking same day visa appointments and assisting with the preparation of applications for submission
- Proof reading and checking forms and documents for accuracy
- Copying supporting documents for records
- Preparing appeal trial bundles including indexes
- Attending Tribunal and Court hearings
- Telephone calls to organisations, monitoring and checking progress of applications and reporting back to client and supervising Lawyer
- Overseeing and supervision other members of staff
Desired skills:
- A good honours degree followed by LPC, training contract and PSC / or a good honours degree with CILEX to Fellow level, LPC and PSC and admitted by SRA as a solicitor
- At least 5 + years PQE within the preferred area of law
- Possess a strong legal background within Immigration law
- Experience of managing a busy, mixed caseload
- Experience of case preparation
- A following of own clients is desirable but not essential
- Legal research and legal drafting experience
- Business development and networking skills
- Demonstrates and develops a high-quality level of technical expertise.
