About Job:

As an IT Manager, you will help the business to identify opportunities to improve the organisation’s overall performance through implementation of various IT systems and tools.

You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the IT Department, providing leadership to the IT team, ensuring robust infrastructure, seamless operations and excellent stakeholder engagement and support.

You will support the Head of IT and will take a lead role in the successful delivery of IT projects including scoping, planning, change control, risk management, vendor management, testing, issue management, user engagement, stakeholder communications, documentation, and reporting.

You will work closely with stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and external vendors to ensure projects are executed efficiently, within budget, and aligned with business objectives.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

IT Strategy

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the IT department to maintain a stable infrastructure and help deliver strategic IT objectives.
  • Support the Head of IT with defining the IT strategy and budget, aligning IT initiatives with current and future business requirements.

Team Management

  • Line management of the IT team, including 1-to-1s, performance management, appraisals, resource planning and recruitment.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Review stakeholder requirements across the organisation and propose suitable IT solutions.
  • Act as an escalation point for significant support queries, complaints and incident management.

Technology Optimisation

  • Ensure that the hardware and software used by our company is effective, compatible, and secure.
  • Support the Infrastructure Engineer with planning, maintenance and development of the company’s infrastructure including hardware, software, network and telecommunications.

Project Management

  • Take a lead role in significant IT projects, including the scoping and implementation of new IT systems and services, as delegated by the Head of IT.
  • Allocate resource, provide guidance and support for projects led by IT team members as required.

Security and Risk Management

  • Ensure robust security of data, network and backup systems.
  • Take ownership of business continuity planning and disaster recovery, including implementation, maintenance and effective testing of the disaster recovery plan.

IT Governance and Compliance

  • Ensure implementation and maintenance of policies relating to IT security, Information Security and IT infrastructure.
  • Take appropriate measures to ensure compliance with relevant governance requirements, such as NHS DSP Toolkit and CyberEssentials.

Vendor Management

  • Manage day to day supplier relations with IT partners and suppliers including account reviews, maintenance, support, warranties, software licencing and ad-hoc project work.
  • Support the Head of IT with renegotiating supplier contracts and helping to identify suitable partners and suppliers when required.

Budget Management

  • Manage and monitor IT operating costs including approving invoices, purchase orders, tracking and forecasting spend against budget.
  • Help plan and manage CAPEX spend, including preparation of business cases with appropriate justification and ROI, when necessary.

Reporting

  • Provide regular reports to the Head of IT with regards to infrastructure status, helpdesk performance and project progress

Other Duties:

A degree of flexibility is needed, and the job holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. Such duties, however, should not normally exceed those expected of an employee at that level.

About You:

An ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience, skills, and attributes. Please note that these competencies are not ranked in order of priority.

Essential

  • Approachable, empathetic leader able to manage a diverse team with varying skillsets.
  • Proven experience in Team Management, IT Strategy, Project Management, Supplier Management and Budget Management.
  • Good understanding of IT infrastructure, software/system development, and technology implementation projects.
  • Familiarity with a variety of software systems, including but not limited to operating systems, productivity suites, collaboration tools and business applications.
  • Stakeholder engagement and adoption experience.
  • Microsoft 365 Administration including SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Azure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with a keen attention to detail.
