Description

One of the UK's leading scholarly societies that promotes and celebrate excellence in research is hiring for a new role in their Publishing team! The newly created role of Publishing Data Visualisation Analyst will drive strategic decisions by transforming data into actionable insights for the publishing division.

Person specification:

The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency in data manipulation, including gathering, scrubbing, and dissecting extensive datasets.You will be skilled in transforming raw data into insightful visualisations and user-friendly dashboards, utilising data modeling and visualisation techniques.

As this is a specialist role sitting in the Publishing team, a background in scholarly publishing and awareness of Open Access business models is a huge advantage (although not essential as long as candidates can show a genuine interest in the publishing business).

Advanced Excel skills are imperative, including the ability to use complex formulas, add-ins and VBA for streamlined processes. Moreover, any experience with other data analysis toolkits like Tableau, Power BI, APIs, and SQL, or comparable tools is desirable.

The Role: 

You will be responsible for collating team KPIs, crafting compelling dashboards, and guiding team actions for enhanced journal performance. 

Main duties will include:

  • Collate, refine, and provide top-tier data throughout the Publishing division
  • Construct analytical frameworks, models, reports, and insights that inform strategic decisions and bolster journal performance
  • Develop easy to understand dashboards that illustrate team KPIs
  • Ensure consistent use of data systems across the team
  • Map data origins across Publishing systems and craft workflow schematics
  • Deliver analyses to key stakeholders
  • Formulate market segment assessments as necessary
  • Collaborate with other teams on data matters

This person will take play a leading role in how data is used to inform decision across the entire Publishing division, and therefore impacting the improvement of new products and services across the business.
