Job Title: Insurance SME Generalist – Compliance/Risk

Duration: 6 months contract (with potential extension)
Project Overview:
We are looking for a highly experienced Compliance/Risk professional to join our team and support a critical project with a major player in the retail insurance sector. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in the retail insurance industry or significant consulting experience with retail insurers. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing compliance and risk frameworks for our client, a large regulated insurance company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide subject matter expertise in financial crime, complaints handling, claims handling, and insurance product governance and management.
- Engage proactively and constructively with mid-senior level staff (e.g., Head of Compliance/Product Head level) and their direct reports.
- Analyse, improve, and operate compliance and risk frameworks for large insurance firms.
- Conduct thorough reviews of regulated insurance products, ensuring compliance with ICOBs, DISP, PROD, and MLRs.
- Advise on the risks associated with the manufacture and distribution of retail insurance products.
- Work in and/or with complex multi-jurisdictional entities to streamline compliance and risk processes.
- Collaborate with firms who have appointed representatives, if applicable.
Experience & Qualifications:
- 7-10 years+ experience in the retail insurance industry or 10 years+ consulting with retail insurers as a subject matter expert (SME).
- Deep experience in at least two of the following areas: financial crime, complaints handling, claims handling, insurance product governance and management.
- Considerable knowledge of ICOBs, with a working knowledge of DISP, PROD, and MLRs.
- Extensive knowledge of retail insurance products, their utilisation, and associated risks.
- Proven ability to engage with senior-level staff at large regulated insurance companies.
- Broad expertise in compliance and risk frameworks for larger insurance firms.
- Significant experience conducting reviews of regulated insurance products.
- Experience with firms having appointed representatives preferred but not essential.
