We are currently looking for Intake, Packaging and Yard Manager


To maintain a constant smooth and efficient intake, packaging and yard operation whilst achieving budgetary and service levels. Responsible for the achievement of specified KPIs. Leading the development and planning of the team’s workload, along with its associated functions to ensure the operation is running efficiently and effectively. Responsible for imposing and maintaining agreed high standards of health and safety, including hygiene and presentation of all areas within the site. Develop the team to ensure they have the people skills and process knowledge required. Ensure planning for peak periods is in place and robust against the demands placed on the teams and the business. Manage the storage process and allocation to maintain a structured warehouse. Recruit and support the onboarding of team members.


  • To be responsible for H&S legislation and the sites H&S policies.
  • To retain and motivate all relevant staff within a team-based management culture.
  • To manage and maintain specific KPI's, and budgets within areas of your control.
  • To initiate procedures where necessary to avoid employees failing to reach agreed standards and targets.
  • To deliver operational success all year round with additional focus applied to the peak periods.
  • Ensure that hygiene of areas is always at an acceptable level.
  • Deal with any escalated disciplinary/grievance matters, liaising with HR for clarification and support.
  • Plan and monitor daily/weekly labour and equipment requirements against predicted volumes, identifying any shortfalls and reacting accordingly.
  • Manage stock control and reconcile with the WMS system aiming for 100% stock accuracy within your areas.
  • Assist in preparing the annual budget for labour spends and overheads that you are responsible for.
  • Manage on site MHE fleet to ensure that fleet up time is maintained and the fleet is kept in good clean condition along with driving standards.
  • Ensure waste disposal is controlled and schedule to maintain the site standards.
  • To ensure that daily operations are managed to ensure the smooth flow in all areas that you are responsible for. Along with communicating with other areas to ensure minimal impact.
  • To achieve and improve upon customer satisfaction targets by effective management ensuring that quality aspects of the site to project the highest standards to the customer.
  • Develop and maintain a motivated team by the encouragement of two-way feedback/communications and hold formal briefing sessions with Section managers and leaders daily.
  • To contribute towards the improvement of processes/methods of operating practices within the depot.
  • Analyse reports against KPI’s and targets and advise on action needed to improve results.
  • To monitor sickness and absence levels through return-to-work interviews and carry out appropriate action agreed with the Depot/HR consistently.

  • Good working knowledge and understanding of warehousing and distribution.
  • Self-motivated and organised with effective communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Good PC skills – Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point & Access.
  • Is confident, optimistic and with the stamina and drive to create change as well as coping with sustained and changing job demands.
  • Is flexible and can embrace and cope with change and accepts accountability.
  • Is inquisitive, innovative and can think ‘outside the box’ and is driven by continual improvement and with high personal standards and integrity.
