The Role

As the Integration and Data Architect, you will be responsible for creating a reference architecture for data to enable our client's subsidiaries to quickly get to market with new technologies and benefit from increased standardisation.

You'll be supporting the senior team. Reporting to the Director of Digital Technology, you will assist the Chief Architect in ensuring that technology initiatives are designed to support the growth strategy.

You'll also have the chance to drive the adoption of data-oriented technology best-practice principles and solutions across the group.

Role Responsibilities

  • Run feasibility studies and make recommendations for technology and vendor selection related to integration platforms and data architecture, followed by the management of these for the emerging common core technology stack.
  • Work closely with the Architecture team to ensure integration and data architectures are based on modern technologies that are scalable, secure, and offer benefits to the business (such as straightforward integrations for BI)
  • Drive adoption of data-orientated technology best-practice principles and solutions across the group, with the goals to aid strategic growth, increase simplification, reduce implementation times, and lower costs.
  • Spearhead the company adoption of BI and Data Science initiatives with practical experience of utilising Integration, Data and BI tools, such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Integration Services and Power BI to achieve real-world results
  • Assess new technologies on an ongoing basis, such as blockchain, ML, AI, and understand how they might be implemented into the environment and what benefit these innovations may bring.
  • Research and evaluate new and/or alternative solutions and technologies to enhance.operational effectiveness, reduce costs and/or system risks and increase speed to market including overseeing Proof of Concepts / Proof of Technologies
  • Ensure Security as a principle is incorporated into every technology strategy and solution devised.

About you

We are looking for a hungry and ambitious Data and Integration Architect who is ready for a new challenge or you could be a hands on Data Engineer who is looking to build on design and architecture skills and who is looking to take the next step up in their career.

We're also looking for someone with a strong experience of data modelling and data mapping and an understanding of software systems architecture and design approaches, with experience in informational, organisational and modern Technology layers to build scalable platforms and products.

You'll be taking on a myriad of projects, so we are looking for someone who can be comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial, high-growth investment environment, and understand the complexity and challenges of navigating a business through this phase of its lifecycle.

Your skills

  • Deep experience in data architecture and integration including practical experience in implementing these technologies to provide tangible business benefits.
  • Strong data modelling and data mapping experience
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure Integration Services - Logic Apps, Service Bus, API Management and Event Grid
  • Design and configuration of data movement, streaming and transformation (ETL) technologies such as Azure Data Factory, HDF, Nifi, Kafka, Storm, Sqoop, SSIS, LogicApps, Signiant, Aspera, MoveIT, Alteryx, Pentaho, IDQ,
  • Previous experience creating analytics use cases and implementing them, preferably within the MS Azure technology stack.
  • A strong understanding of modern database technologies including new innovations in the space.
  • Experience in a delivery-orientated Technology environment using agile methodologies and tooling, such as Azure DevOps.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience in the extraction of value from data utilise BI toolsets to create tangible business benefits. Preferably utilising the Microsoft Azure technology stack.
  • An expert understanding of data integration strategies and the technology platforms that underpin them such as (X12, I.C.E, EDIFACT, AS2, Liquid, XML/XSLT, APIM).
  • Strong understanding and skillset in how integration has evolved from an on-premise, centralised function towards being a digital, cloud and API-driven capability.
  • Multi-system data Integration using industry standards such as SOA, EAI, BPI and API using API Gateway, iPaaS and ESB technologies such as Apache Knox, Boomi, Mulesoft, Tibco, Axway, Informatica, Workato, Jitterbit, SnapLogic, Apigee.
  • Extensive experience in data visualization using technologies such as PowerBI, Tableau, Spotfire, D3, Spotfire, Qlik
  • Large-scale design, implementation, and operations of OLTP, OLAP, DW and NoSQL data storage technologies such as SQL Server, Azure SQL, Azure SQL DW, PostgreSQL, CosmosDB, RedisCache, Azure Data Lake Store, Hadoop, Hive, MongoDB, MySQL, Neo4j, Cassandra, HBase
