About the role
Mangata Networks is looking for an International Indirect Tax Manager who will be responsible for managing the global indirect tax reporting and compliance functions, as well as supporting the development and management of our indirect tax structuring. The position will be hands-on with reporting responsibilities.
The role would suit an experienced tax professional with commercial industry experience, who has the ability to thrive in a fast paced startup environment, and who embraces the opportunity to design procedures from the ground-up. They will be technically minded, with a commercial outlook. The ideal candidate is resourceful in working through challenges, with the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and deliver results.
You will be responsible for
Pro-actively managing and monitoring the complete, accurate and timely filing of all indirect global tax returns and payments. Managing tax notifications and tax registrations. Includes maintaining strong working relationships with, and managing external advisers.
Providing cross-functional indirect tax support to the business teams. Includes customer and vendor contract reviews and structuring, providing guidance on import/export customs duties and tariffs, withholding tax certification, and customer exemption certificate advice.
Managing the global requirements to mitigate regulatory, statutory and operational tax risks.
Participating in the development and implementation of global international indirect tax strategy, structure and tax planning initiatives.
Providing the VP Tax and Tax Director with intelligence and advice on global developments of indirect tax compliance, and the regulations of the jurisdictions in which Mangata operates.
Providing support on indirect tax audits and any controversial matters that may arise in the area of indirect tax compliance, in order to ensure their proper handling.
Supporting the year end audit process. Ensuring that the indirect tax balance sheet positions are regularly reconciled.
Building and maintaining strong working relationships across functions within Mangata. Includes working collaboratively with the wider tax and finance team to facilitate global indirect tax return preparation and coordination.
Supporting the implementation of, and managing the global tax engine technology strategy, including nexus settings, product mapping and the development of automating processes, to include advancing better data analysis.
Requirements for the role
Commercially experienced and qualified corporate tax professional with significant relevant experience. Strong technical and analytical skills.
Ability to multitask, manage multiple complex projects, and deliver on competing priorities in a timely manner.
Attention to detail, without losing sight of the big picture.
A growth mindset, highly professional, with great communication skills.
Excellent academics together with recognised tax and/or accounting qualifications, with an emphasis on tax.
Ideally will have worked in an international role in industry, (a bonus if this is in communications), or a role where deep expertise in global indirect taxes has been developed across multiple tax jurisdictions.
Independent self-starter who can effectively partner with colleagues across numerous functions and geographic regions. Ability to persuade and influence. Entrepreneurial spirit.
Some travel, including international, may be required in this role.
