Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated International Sales Manager, to be based in London, UK.

The purpose of this role is to manage the sales and marketing of nickel and cobalt products across Europe and other assigned geographic markets. Key accountabilities will include relationship management, customer service, market research, and logistics of product shipments.

The position offers a remote home-office working environment, with travel approximately 25% of the time.

Accountabilities

  • Enter into sales contracts for Sherritt-brand nickel and cobalt products, with the objective of minimizing inventories and maximizing the return.
  • Represent the company as its key liaison with the customers. Develop and focus on key relationships with customers and key trading companies within the sales territory including overseeing all aspects of product sales within that region.
  • Meet or exceed budgeted sales volumes and netbacks in the geographic area of responsibility.
  • Oversee the maintenance and growth of the Company’s customer base through the implementation of sales and marketing plans, for the collection of market intelligence, the identification of new market opportunities.
  • Maintain an excellent knowledge of nickel and cobalt products, their consumption requirements, specifications, competitors and purchase terms as well as a range of contacts within the industry. Recommend appropriate pricing on long-term and spot contracts based on current market information.
  • Work with suppliers, customers and other industry players to gather, compile and disseminate market information, and proactively communicate current market information with stakeholders.
  • Manage the relationships with the end customers ensuring competent and professional service and complaint resolution. Provide guidance to customer service staff in the Bahamas and logistics staff in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta as necessary.
  • Develop strategies to ensure excellent communication between customer needs and production capabilities to support goals of growth and the potential for high value-added sales streams.
  • Support cost-effective supply, distribution and transportation strategies to provide the timely delivery of inventory to meet customer requirements at the lowest possible cost.
  • Participate in the development of marketing policies and procedures to satisfy ISO 9001 audit requirements.
  • Attend and contribute to all group sales meetings and attend industry conferences as requested.
  • Monitor existing and potential customers and competitors’ product requirements within the sales territory to ensure the proper targeting of sales to the highest netback customers. Utilize this information to make recommendations regarding market approaches.
  • Maintain direct relationships with key personnel in the company in the areas of marketing, customer service, product stewardship, transportation, logistics and procurement.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Purchasing, Logistics and/or Engineering
  • A minimum of 7 years of working experience in sales and marketing or equivalent experience
  • Strong business acumen and highly developed organizational skills, with ability to successfully plan and execute multiple priorities
  • Exceptional relationship management skills – influencing and negotiating – for the purpose of delivering marketing value and sales growth to Sherritt
  • Self-starter who is able to operate independently in a variety of business environments and social conditions, and learn and adapt to different cultures and business norms
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience dealing with different regulatory bodies
  • Knowledge of the LME or other trading platforms is considered a benefit but not a requirement
