Investment Management - Senior Investment Manager

To manage clients and their portfolios in line with agreed client objectives.
Directly responsible for contributing to the house investment strategy, building model and bespoke portfolios and conducting investment research.
Promotion and marketing of the Arbuthnot Investment Management Services.
IAR CERTIFIED ROLE

• Investment Advice / Personal Recommendations – To gather client information, understand objectives and provide suitable recommendations restricted to investment management.
• Client Retention / Portfolio Management - Provide an outstanding service to clients in terms of both relationships, understanding client objectives and requirements including risk profile and income levels and portfolio management; ensure that portfolios are managed within FCA/PRA legislation. Deal with client affairs with integrity and efficiency at all times and in a manner that is in-keeping with standards required by HNW individuals. Oversight of portfolio’s dealing and model adherence.
• Commercial – Work with PBs and WPs to propose and deliver the right investment solutions for client needs, assisting them to retain clients and obtain referrals leading to AUM and client growth. Marketing and presentation of the Arbuthnot Latham’s range of services.
• Investment Research - Represent & lead research work in respect of one of the sub asset classes to UK Equities, Developed Overseas Equities, Emerging Equities, Fixed Income, Property, Hedge Funds & Alternatives, leading the workflow, managing resources & tools, with the aim of 1) ensuring case argued for being overweight or underweight and 2) ensuring underlying products / investments outperform their peers. Clearly and effectively undertake research and analysis of investments, direct and collectives.
• Investment Services - Lead an investment service , taking ownership of all aspects of the service, from model updates to marketing materials
• Investment Process - To contribute to strategic and tactical asset allocation changes in model portfolios through discussions within the investment committee and in conjunction with the team.
• Conduct Risk – To ensure clients affairs are managed in a compliant manner and that regulatory risks are identified and managed. To comply with the FCA’s Code of Conduct and Treating Customers Fairly regimes.
• Company – Create a team ethos of maintaining high standards across the board with particular regard to client service and upholding AL’s values and commitments. Be a credible ambassador for the Bank representing AL and your Team both externally and internally.
• Staff - Line management of Investment Managers, Junior Investment Managers and Investment Manager’s Assistants.
• Other - Participation in adhoc projects as determined by Head of Investment Management.

Person Specification

Knowledge & Experience

• This role falls under the FCA Certification Regime
• FCA approval and authorisation as a CF30 (if applicable)
• A level 4 Investment Management/Wealth Management qualification (Level 6 prefered)
• Professional Body Membership – MCSI (Chartered Wealth Manager) or MPFS (Chartered Financial Planner) or CFA Member (Charterholder)
• Significant experience in having primary responsibility for the discretionary management of a pool of high net worth clients accompanied by agood track record of client retention.
• Experienced investment analyst with experience of idea generation, quantitative filtering, thorough research and analysis, due diligence and final investment selection processes.
• Direct experience in economic and fundamental sector analysis; be able to contribute to asset allocation and policy decisions.

• Investment Manager able to contribute to and then follow house policy and models. (This role will not appeal to those who do not wish to follow mutually agreed house models.)
