Who we are looking for

An IT Operations Team Leader, who will be at the forefront of ensuring that the services provided by your team meet the highest standards.


Our mission is to support the production IT service, this includes customer-facing products and critical internal systems. You will ensure smooth operations, timely incident resolution and proactive maintenance. Furthermore, quality assurance, process improvements and adherence to best practices falls under your remit.


You will orchestrate the team’s efforts in keeping everything running smoothly, creating synergies, aligning efforts and providing robust support to end-users, whilst ensuring minimal disruptions and rapid issue resolution.


In this role automation initiatives play a significant role, being able to identify repetitive tasks that can be automated, which in turn maximises your team’s time for more strategic work.


Your insights and decisions will have an impact on the IT Operations roadmap, therefore it is imperative for you to consider scalability, security and emerging technologies, whilst advocating for investments that enhance efficiency and resilience.


Preferred skills and experience

  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders, advocating for positive changes that enhance efficiency, reliability, and overall service excellence.
  • Ability to adapt as the technology landscape evolves rapidly and adjust to new tools, processes, and challenges.
  • Experience managing incidents, monitoring system health and maintaining service levels.
  • Experience in preparing your team for any scenario such as handling a sudden surge in user requests or responding to critical incidents.
  • Experience working closely with other teams including platform, automation, site reliability engineering and service delivery.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, leading a large team and inspiring them to perform at their best, whilst fostering a positive work environment.


Main Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the team, whilst engaging with other teams early in the delivery lifecycle, to facilitate effective planning for upcoming work.
  • Inspiring and embracing change and providing input to support project activities.
  • Reviewing major incident, post-incident data and streamlining processes.
  • Discussing daily, weekly and monthly tasks and providing constructive feedback on team issues and performance.
  • Motivating and inspiring staff by providing effective coaching and feedback.
  • Gaining an in-depth understanding of the production monitoring estate and associated technologies including Nimsoft, New Relic, Grafana, Kabana, and Splunk.
  • Driving and supporting automation initiatives across the team and operations engineering.
  • Seeking opportunities to automate manual tasks, reduce complexity and enhance the internal customer experience.
  • Acting as an escalation point for the team, ensuring adherence to agreed processes.
