WHO WE ARE

Combined Independents (Holdings) Limited (CIH Limited) is a not for profit buying group which is owned and governed by our membership (~450 independent high street electrical retail specialists based throughout the UK with over 600 outlets) and in 2023 will celebrated our 60th year.

 

In many cases, our membership are family run businesses, some of which have been established for several generations, and part of many local communities and high streets that come together as part of a buying group. CIH owns two purpose-built distribution centres, one in Tankersley to service the north and one in Andover to service the south, working closely with a dedicated warehouse and distribution partner at each centre. All of our colleagues are employed through CIH and are made up of experts in finance, human resource, IT, logistics, ecommerce, marketing, and purchasing.

IN YOUR NEW ROLE

You will focus on system integrations, ensuring that the many systems that CIH and our members use are able to communicate with each other so that data transmits securely, efficiently, and correctly between all systems. Working within the IT team and liaising with other internal departments and external third parties to develop, manage and support our integrations. In your exciting new role you will have the opportunity to overcome all technical challenges as you bring all CIH’s systems together as one.


YOUR MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

You will own all system integrations and be responsible for developing new and managing and supporting existing integrations.


You will provide technical support and assistance for our Commerce and Marketplace platforms.


You will liaise and co-ordinate with our Members, EPOS Providers and other third parties to integrate their systems with the systems that we use; to meet business requirements.


You will regularly report to the Head of IT on the progress of integrations that are being worked on, and any changes and improvements that could be made to existing integrations. Report and provide updates on any issues with existing integrations.


You will provide reports on the usage of the key integrations. Ensuring that integrations are not being mis-used or by unauthorised access. Ensuring that all integrations are being used within expected, allowed quotas so that unexpected additional costs are not incurred, keeping within budgets set out by the business.


You will write technical and functional documentation on all integrations and processes.

 

THE EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS YOU WILL HAVE

You will of course have a minimum of five years’ experience of developing, managing, supporting, and using APIs, and working with JSON and CSV files; and a minimum of two years’ experience managing and using SFTP servers and clients. As such you will be able to demonstrate that you have an advanced knowledge and understanding of JavaScript, JSON, Python and C++, CSV files. You will have a solid technical knowledge and understanding of different transmitting protocols such as SFTP but not limited to this.


You will have strong problem-solving skills to analyse and troubleshoot complex issues, identifying root causes and developing practical solutions in both a proactive and reactive manner. Excellent professional communications skills, polite and patient with the ability to communicate clearly via any means to internal employees and external third parties, with excellent grammar and spelling and ensuring that you know your audience and use appropriate vocabulary and terminology that your audience will understand (technical and non-technical, business teams). You will be proficient in using the Microsoft Office package and specifically Outlook, Excel and Word. You will have the ability to prioritise and plan workload to ensure deadlines set by the business are met by using your own initiate to work independently as well as within a small but busy team. You will be able to manage change control.

 

It would be an advantage if you also have experience of developing within and using SAP Integration Suite (SAP IS) and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP); using the Backoffice Management Cockpits in SAP Commerce Cloud 1905 or newer; as well as experience in using tools such as Jira and Confluence or similar tools.
