Job Description

Westerton Care Home is looking to recruit a Kitchen Assistant / Host. As Kitchen Assistant / Host, you will assist in the preparation and delivery of high-quality food and beverages whilst maintaining a clean and safe environment suitable for its production.   Kitchen Assistant / Host Contract       £11.44 per hour        27.5 hours per week       Company pension       5.6 weeks annual leave       Uniform provided       Onsite parking Key Responsibilities - Carry out duties within the kitchen area in accordance with the work schedule including:       Preparation of food.       General cleanliness and tidiness of the kitchen area, equipment and appliances.       Receiving, checking and safely storing kitchen deliveries.       Understand and implement the principles of safe food handling.       Understand and implement cleaning procedures and requirements of different surfaces and equipment.       Ensure the areas are well presented and maintained in good condition.       Practice safe systems of work across a range of tasks.       Understand personal responsibilities regarding to Health and Safety at Work legislation       Act in a professional and courteous manner at all times.       Encourage and contribute to working as a team.       Advise and liaise with the management team on the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks.       Responsible for the safe and tidy storage of supplies and equipment in line with your area of work.       Take responsibility to read, understand and adhere to the company policies and procedures.         Provision of meals and drinks to residents who attend the dining room.        Assisting residents with their meals if needed, working together with care staff.        Ensuring that the fridges are always clean food items are correctly stored and labelled using the labelling guide. Fridges are topped up and the stock is correctly rotated.        Food storage cupboards are clean and food items are correctly labelled and the stock is correctly rotated.        Setting up the dining room for lunch and dinner, including dressing the tables.        Overseeing the function and proper use of the satellite kitchens.        Changing the menu displays daily.        Serving food from the hot trolleys, plating up food for residents, if Chef unavailable        Lead the diningroom and organise the assistance required and allocate staff        Providing refreshments outside of mealtimes to residents, relatives, and other visitors as and when it is required, such as tea and coffee trolley        Maintaining the correct communication with the chef on changes of the menu or requirements from residents.        Collecting mealtime feedbacks from residents on their meal experiences.        Making sure that all aspects of the daily tasks carried out by reflecting company policies and H.A.C.C.P regulations, C.O.S.S.H regulations, Infection Control.        Daily monitoring and record keeping of the fridges, milk fridges, food serving temperatures.        Undertake induction and supervision on a 12-weekly basis.        Attend mandatory training as and when required.
