Job Description

Selby - 5 days onsite

12 month contract

Up to £20 per hour


Our high-profile utilities client are looking for a Laboratory Analyst to work in a UKAS ISO17025 Accredited Laboratory, undertaking high precision water chemistry, along with varied operational chemical analysis.


The role covers sampling, analysis and testing support within the Chemistry team, involving work on and around site, in addition to the laboratory, whilst maintaining high quality standards


Dimensions:


To prepare, plan, execute laboratory analysis, sampling & calibration procedures for routine and non-routine processes, and to compile results and analytical reports and communicate effectively.


Plan and conduct testing services professionally and effectively to produce accurate and precise results to meet customer expectations, following the UKAS ISO17025 quality system, working under supervision and on own initiative as appropriate.


Have detailed knowledge of sampling, analysis requirements and associated analytical techniques, understand the requirements of UKAS ISO 17025 standard


Consistently providing quality laboratory testing services that conform to customer and regulatory requirements, setting expectations to improve quality of service.


Continuously improve the laboratory quality and technical functions, by writing new procedures and improving current procedures, investigate and support in developing new test methods, troubleshooting and software development.


Identify, instigate and conduct investigation work for non-conformances, quality control and trending issues, method troubleshooting with support.


Assist the training of personnel to the required competency to complete their job function and understanding of the company policies and laboratory procedures under UKAS ISO17025.


Organise contractors/service companies for the laboratory in accordance with site procedures.


Ensure appropriate stock levels of laboratory equipment, reagents and consumables are maintained.


Interpret laboratory data, recognise, and react to abnormal results.


Maintain housekeeping to a good standard.



Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:


Experienced in laboratory testing or qualified in a related subject to Degree level.

Experienced in operating technically advanced testing equipment, including ICP-MS; Ion Chromatography.

Has the knowledge and skills to support work on new or developing techniques.

Have a good knowledge of quality, sampling and analysis requirements to UKAS ISO17025

Standard.

Works to written or verbal instructions accurately and efficiently.

Have good communications skills and be computer literate.

Carry out assigned duties showing due regard to safety, quality, legislation and Management instructions.
