At Lloyds Banking Group, we are driven by a clear purpose - to Help Britain Prosper.

Our brands, our services and our businesses span every aspect of banking and finance. That gives us a big responsibility: to support the UK economy, with a clear mission to create a sustainable and inclusive future for people and businesses - shaping finance as a force for good. Banking Products Legal plays a critical role in supporting the bank's strategy for commercial customers.

Banking Products Legal provides legal support for product development and innovation; change projects; rectifications and remediations; industry change initiatives; customer on-boarding and customer journeys and the management of legal risk relating to transaction banking and working capital products and services.

The role is a secondment/maternity cover role which covers Cash Management & Payments and Online Channels providing legal support for cash management and payments solutions to small businesses and larger corporate customers, financial institutions, government bodies and local authorities. We support colleagues in Product, Coverage, Risk and Delivery plus other functional support areas. The products and services we support include cash management solutions such as accounts/deposits, payment services, liquidity services (pooling and sweeping), digital innovations and the online/digital channels through which products and services are provided to clients.

What a team to be in!

You will be part of an encouraging and collaborative team helping to find legal solutions to support strategy. We like to challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvement activity.

Knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework applicable to cash management products and commercial customers will be helpful to the initial aspect of this role. This is not essential though and please don't let the overall wide ranging nature of the role put you off - we are looking for someone with transferable skills and a growth mindset.

We are a supportive team, and we will provide training and guidance. You must be qualified as a solicitor in the UK (or equivalent qualification).

In this role, you will

  • Advise on products, services and channels including providing legal input to support delivery of projects, innovation and rectifications and remediations;
  • Advise on the digitisation of products, services and customer journeys.
  • Advise on customer and colleague journey improvements and be able to identify where a customer journey requires input to ensure that vulnerable customer support needs are addressed;
  • Advise on and draft terms and conditions for new services;
  • Assist with the development of policy and procedures;
  • Provide advice and guidance to business areas on Legal Risk Management using the relevant risk management policy framework;
  • Support change projects in the business, the Banking Products Legal team and the Legal & Secretariat community to deliver continuous improvement;
  • Collaborate with team members and work cross-functionally to help deliver the business strategy;
  • Manage panel law firms and build and maintain positive relationships with external lawyers;
  • Build and maintain a strong stakeholder network to ensure there is a good understanding of business strategy and pipeline;
  • Provide insightful, commercial, practical advice, tailored to a broad range of stakeholders;
  • Support legal, regulatory and change projects;
  • Report and escalate legal and governance risks and inputting to recommended solutions as required;
  • Identify knowledge gaps and deliver and coordinate training to team and business partners; and
  • Reflect on legal service delivery and look for continuous improvement activities.

We're seeking a versatile individual to

  • Build strong collaborative relationships across Legal and Secretariat and the business to help deliver the strategy;
  • Be confident in using experience and insights to influence, inform and challenge business stakeholders;
  • Help identify, mitigate and control legal risk;
  • Manage competing priorities in own workload;
  • Stay on top of regulatory, industry and legal change;
  • Demonstrate dedication to self-development;
  • Bring energy and a positive proactive approach.
  • Be team orientated.

As part of the Group's commitments as a result of ring-fencing legislation, colleagues based in the Islands are required to be exclusively dedicated to the non-ring-fenced bank and its subsidiaries. This means that colleagues who are based in the Islands would not be able to undertake roles for the Ring Fenced Bank from their existing location and would need to consider relocation when applying for roles.
