Lead Adult Education Tutor

Division: Adult Services

Responsible to: Curriculum Manager

Job Type: Temporary

Sector: Education

Duration: This is a temporary ongoing role with no end date specified

Location: Redcar

Grade: F

Pay Rates: £15.00 to £16.50 paye per hour.

Rates shown are depending on skill and experience.

Working Days and Hours: Monday to Friday, hours to be confirmed, likely to be 9 am to 5 pm

Hybrid approach: This is face-to-face position and will involve working within a College.

Job Purpose:

  • To work under the general direction of the Curriculum Manager, and participate in the planning, and development implementation of curriculum delivery, including the Self-Assessment Report and Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Contribute to service quality processes to manage and support progress and performance.
  • You will be required to work evenings and occasional weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comply with and assist in the further development of quality assurance standards for teaching and learning within the service, utilising resources, Individual Learning Plans, Initial and diagnostic assessments.
  • To support and mentor sessional tutors in their continuous professional development, ensuring that sessional tutors are adhering to service procedures and standards whilst supporting and motivate tutors to enhance their teaching and learning practice.
  • Contribute and support the production and implementation of the self-assessment report and quality improvement plan.
  • To be responsible for the internal moderation and assessment of learners' work.
  • Contribute to Adult Learning Service processes to monitor learner progression, achievement, retention and success rate, and destination, ensuring quality assurance standards are adhered to.
  • To have responsibility and contribute to the review, planning, and development of the curriculum including schemes of work and lesson planning.
  • To have responsibility for a theme or curriculum area as directed by the Curriculum Manager.
  • Design and develop and use teaching and learning materials to enhance and provide a quality learning experience for all learners.
  • To be continually graded at good or better in Observations, Teaching, Learning, and Assessment.
  • Contribute, support, and maintain up to date knowledge of external and internal quality inspections, e.g. Ofsted, internal/external moderation, Matrix, service procedures, and standards.
  • Contribute and be proactive in enrolment and marketing processes for new and future learners and provision including attendance at promotion events.

Essential Experience

· Substantial experience teaching adults.

· Significant experience maintaining records and collecting data.

· Significant experience Ofsted inspection.

· Experience of working with unemployed adults and Apprentices.

· Substantial experience developing a curriculum area.

· Substantial experience supervising/ mentoring staff/ team.

· Significant experience Ofsted inspections.

Essential Qualifications

· Higher Education qualification or equivalent.

· Appropriate adult teaching qualification e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed or DTTLS.

· UCPD level 4/5 in English, Maths or ESOL

Desirable

· Assessor Award.

· Internal Verifier Award.

· Willingness to work toward UCPD level 5 in English, maths, ESOL.
