Job Description

We are looking for an experienced software engineer to lead a team of six working on a new multi year sensor enhancement project within the Defence sector.

The role will be based in Glasgow on a hybrid basis (2-3 days a week) however alternative locations/ working set ups can be considered for particularly strong candidates

Due to the nature of the role, ability to obtain security clearance is required for defence projects (UK or NATO citizen, lived in UK for 5+ years)

You will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and maintenance of cutting-edge embedded software solutions. Your work will directly impact the effectiveness of critical communication systems used by defence and government agencies. You will manage and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and researchers to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of six software engineers.
  • Oversee the development and enhancement of maritime sensor systems.
  • Define and manage project requirements using DOORS.
  • Architect and implement software solutions using Visual C++.
  • Ensure adherence to the software development lifecycle (SDLC) best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions on time.
Qualifications

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience with C++ coding on the Windows platform.
  • Proficiency in requirements definition and architecture
  • Strong knowledge of Visual C++.
  • Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance as required for defence projects (UK or NATO citizen, lived in UK for 5+ years)
