Lead Systems Engineer
Location: Bristol
Duration: 12 Months
Rate negotiable on application
Inside IR35
SC Clearance required

The role is within our clients complex shipbuilding programme, developing designs through concept and early-stage design as well as supporting the bidding process.

Responsibilities
• Provide leadership and accountability in the delivery of systems engineering activities through the application of process, domain knowledge and experience.
• Work as a systems engineering subject matter expert. Demonstrably able to understand concepts and principles, to be able to design / develop / determine solutions to functional issues and personally undertake the most complex work within the subject area.
• Knowledge of designing, structuring and writing requirement sets and their associated acceptance criteria.
• Knowledge of creating and maintaining the requirements database, development of the Supplier requirements and their traceability to the customer requirement.
• Proven ability of leading the acceptance process to demonstrate the customer requirement has been met.
• Provides help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working, and their development. Providing coaching and assistance as needed.
• Work closely with others in multi-disciplinary teams performing system definition activities.
• Plan, deliver and monitor the systems engineering scope of work within a project.
• Manage the technical interface with internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage systems engineering risks.
• In addition, you will belong to the wider engineering capability group and will have the opportunity to support other projects in different roles within your discipline with a focus on longer term career development.
Key Skillset
Essential:
• Chartered Engineer.
• Detailed knowledge and experience of managing and leading systems engineering.
• An analytical approach and a desire for complex problem solving.
• Team player with strong presentation, written and oral communication skills.
• profiecient requirement management tool user e.g., DOORS.
• High level of competence in using Microsoft Excel.
Desirable:
• ASEP or CSEP INCOSE Certification.
