To lead and provide line management to our team of Learning and Development professionals who are based around the country, to help equip and resource The Salvation Army through a wide range of innovative and relevant Learning and Development opportunities.

The Learning and Development Delivery Unit is part of William Booth College (London). William Booth College Learning & Development are passionate practitioners dedicated to learning and development across The Salvation Army.


Key Responsibilities:

Fulfil a key role in pro-actively developing a learning culture within The Salvation Army, with responsibility for the development and operation of a strategic learning and development service, to support the organisation to meet its strategic objectives and mission priorities.

The role is a senior role in William Booth College and is responsible for the strategic development of learning programmes whose key focus is to align current Learning and Development strategies and work closely with senior internal and external stakeholders to create Learning and Development initiatives and opportunities accessible to all Salvation Army Employees and Officers across the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.


The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:

  • A passion for Learning and Development with extensive previous experience of successfully leading a Learning and Development service or similar.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate employees, identify and nurture talent and manage performance effectively to deliver team objectives.
  • Professional or academic qualifications equivalent to degree level or above, in the following: Learning and Development or Management, Leadership or Education or CIPD (or equivalent) qualifications


This role has an Occupational Requirement (OR) for an active, practising and committed Christian.
