Job Description

NES Fircroft are working with a Crop Protections Solutions Company based in Bracknell who are looking for a Legal Advisor to join them on an initial 12 Month contract basis.

This is a hybrid position working Monday-Friday with 3 days per week on site.

Purpose

  • Legal support for
    • the North-West Europe Commercial Unit (NW CU) in close collaboration with the CU Counsel,
    • the Lead Counsel SPS & CP Research,
    • the Lead Counsel Seedcare,
    • the Lead Counsel Business Sustainability & Regulatory Affairs,
    • Legal Counsels in the Europe Region
under the supervision of Europe Legal Advisor Team Lead.
  • Providing pro-active and in-depth legal as well as overall IP and compliance advice contributing to the delivery of company business strategy in CP Research and in the Europe Region across all business lines and functions (CP, Biologicals, SE, Flowers, Vegetables, R&D, P&S and Agricultural Solutions) by partnering with the respective business teams in collaboration with the Legal Counsel responsible for these areas.
Accountabilities
  • Work with and support of members of the Global and European members of the Legal Department in achieving their objectives in a resource-efficient manner by providing high-quality, proactive, objective and commercially orientated legal advice.
  • Prepare, edit, review and finalize contracts and other legal documents, mainly for company operations in the UK but also the whole NW BU which comprises Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Norway, Sweden with a view to discharge the CU Counsel and other members of the Legal Department.
  • Assess proposed commercial relationships to ensure that their implications are fully understood, to structure and to draft/negotiate and finalize definitive agreements to ensure these relationships are properly defined and recorded.
  • Manage, where required, third party claims by or against the company in relation to its overall activities with a view to recovering losses incurred or to minimizing damages claimed.
  • Understanding relevant EU regulatory initiatives and frameworks
  • Preparation of legal memoranda independently or in collaboration with legal counsels.
  • Supporting Legal Counsels in providing pro-active and in-depth legal as well as overall IP and compliance advice contributing to the delivery of business/research strategy
  • Support company compliance program (competition law, data privacy etc.), by giving selected trainings to workforce.
  • Facilitate, supervise and manage interactions with external lawyers and law firms.
  • Corporate secretarial work for legal entities in UK region.
  • Develop and continuously improve knowledge and expertise in key areas of law that are central to the objectives and strategies. Assume responsibility for the ongoing development and enhancement of contract templates, as well as their effective integration and utilization within company contract management system.
 Experience required for the job

3+ years post-qualification experience in commercial environment to commercial, intellectual property, product liability, data privacy and competition laws ideally in a multinational company or a top tier law firm
  • Exposure to complex legal problems in an international setting, such as licensing or M&A transactions
  • Good understanding of commercial law concepts, contracts, and antitrust laws
  • Good understanding of legal management systems (contract lifecycle management, matter management, and others)
  • Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex documents and contracts
  • Capability to quickly and accurately provide high quality output while under pressure
  • Able to prioritize and manage a huge number of wide-ranging tasks
  • Basic knowledge about compliance programs
Minimum education and critical knowledge required for the job
  • UK law degree
  • Strong project and time management as well as interpersonal skills with the ability to work on multiple files and within diverse teams
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written), would be a plus being proficient in another European Language
