Working Pattern: Predominantly Office Based (some flex)
Douglas Scott have partnered with a leading retail group in their search for a new Legal Counsel to join the team in their head office in York. The business are looking for a good commercial generalist to help advise the business across various legal matters.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial contract agreements across the business (supplier, services, distribution, tech, marketing etc…).
- Advising the business on various regulatory and compliance matters, ensuring policies and procedures are drafted and implemented across the business.
- Advising on wider legal matters including Corporate, Intellectual Property, Data Protection & Debt Matters.
- Appointing and managing external counsel to ensure cost effective and suitable advice.
- Supporting in the management and development of junior members of the team.
The ideal candidate will have/be:
- Qualified Solicitor with 2-5 PQE.
- Demonstrable post-qualification experience in a commercial practice area (Commercial Contracts/Corporate/Construction/Banking/Commercial Litigation etc…).
- Desire to learn and develop across generalist in-house practice areas that aren’t necessarily your post qualification expertise.
- Candidates from either in-house or private practice backgrounds will be considered.
