About
The Role

As
Legal Counsel for Core Services here at Drax, you’ll spend the majority of your
time advising the Core Services teams. Core Services activities include business
ethics, regulation, compliance, corporate governance, corporate affairs,
communications, and finance and are all critical to ensuring we comply with applicable
laws and regulations, as a UK-listed company.

Day to day you will
deliver high- quality commercially aware legal advice to our Core Services
teams; through the negotiation and drafting of contracts (which will range in
value, complexity and strategic importance to the business), legal review of Group
external and internal communications as well as new and existing Group policies.
This role will also see you advising on Group IP and trademark matters and managing and/or
supporting on the conduct of disputes and investigations.

When providing
high-quality legal advice, you’ll need to balance risk identification and
mitigation with commercial awareness. You’ll also need to identify any material
risks for escalation and resolution.

This
is a new and exciting role within the business reporting to our Senior Legal
Counsel for Core Services, it will also see you working with other members of the
Legal team and having the flexibility and opportunity to advise across the
wider business and participate in cross-group projects as required.

About
You

You’ll be a qualified
solicitor/barrister in a UK jurisdiction or an alternative jurisdiction with UK
advisory experience. Ideally, you’ll have at least 2 years’ PQE working in a
corporate/commercial environment either in-house or in private practice.

You’ll have the
ability to provide clear and accurate legal advice, alongside being flexible
and willing to take on work in new or unfamiliar practice areas. You’ll have
excellent technical, analytical, and drafting skills, and strong negotiating
skills. And you’ll have a pragmatic approach and an ability to assess and
quantify commercial risk.
