Location: Manchester, hybrid working - 2 days from the office

Role Purpose:

Working in the in-house legal team for UK as part of the wider global legal function, you will be responsible for providing pragmatic, commercial, legal advice across a range of legal areas as part of a well-respected and dynamic in-house legal function. Summary:

  • Negotiating and finalising varied forms of customer contracts, including taking instructions from internal business stakeholders, producing redlines and conducting telephone negotiations with customers and their lawyers.
  • Reviewing, reporting on and finalising marketing and/or vendor contracts in consultation with business stakeholders.
  • Supporting special projects, including drafting new template agreements, providing training to internal departments, working with the international legal team on group wide projects such as terms for new service lines and implementing improvements in legal operations.

What we are looking for in you:

Minimum qualifications

  • LLB (or foreign equivalent) and admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales.
  • As a guide, 3-6 years of post-qualification legal experience with a strong focus on commercial contracts experience, obtained working in a law firm and/or in-house.

Key Competencies

  • The role’s central competency is to be able to provide sound legal advice, which takes account of the business’ risk appetite, to NCC Group UK.
  • Some experience of commercial contracts is essential. Experience in other relevant areas of law is advantageous.
  • Experience of services similar to those of NCC Group is advantageous – namely, professional services in the technology sector. An interest in cyber security is essential!
  • Experience of working in an in-house environment is advantageous.
  • Fluency in English is essential; other relevant language skills are advantageous.
  • Ability to effectively develop strong working relationships with colleagues, and rapport with customers, partners and suppliers.
  • Applies commercial understanding and strategic input when providing support.
  • Stays curious, gaining in-depth knowledge of the NCC Group, its operating model, and commercial pressures.
  • Awareness and understanding of potential risk factors to the NCC Group, applying knowledge, judgment, and experience to mitigate risk.
  • Understands, works within and champions legal, regulatory and organisational standards.
  • Build understanding of other functions and external factors to provide insightful and innovative solutions.
  • Challenges constructively to achieve results that are in the NCC Group’s best interests.
  • Understands NCC Group vision and team strategy and delivers results.
