Job Title: Legal Counsel
Location: Home based with some travel/office working according to business needs.
Our main UK & Ireland Home Care offices are in London, Epsom and Dublin (with branch offices around England, Scotland & Ireland)
Hours: Part time, 2-3 days per week, 16-20 hours, flexible working days
Salary: £28,000 - £40,000 depending upon hours and experience. (
FTE salary c£65,000 - £70,000)

Purpose of the Job:
Providing legal advice, support and solutions to the UKI home care brands (The Group)
Advising on complex legal issues and regulatory requirements (including GDPR)
Management of disputes and litigation
Identifying and mitigating legal risks
Keeping knowledge of legal developments up to date in and increasingly regulated, competitive and complex environment
The job holder is an officer of the Court and required to conduct himself/herself in accordance with the Solicitors' Code of Conduct and applicable law and is subject to regulation by the Solicitors' Regulation Authority
Main Responsibilities:
Providing effective and appropriate legal advice and assistance as required by the Group
Reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts
Supporting a range of standard and bespoke procurement contracts and queries
Assisting the Group regarding the assessment and management of legal and commercial risk
Training the Group on legal and regulatory issues (including data protection policies, standards and guidelines)
Helping to ensure that business is conducted in accordance with relevant law and the Group's internal governance processes
Instructing external lawyers, where appropriate (eg Irish legislation, franchising, property), and managing external legal fees under appropriate supervision
Providing preliminary advice on disputes and litigation
Advising on regulatory legal compliance, acting as the Group DPO and serving as the Supervisory Authority local point of contact in all matters relating to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO)
Handling drafting of any and all resolutions and filings at Companies House
Providing ad hoc day to day legal advice on matters involving legal privilege
Person Specification:
Educated to degree level or equivalent with recognised legal UK/Ireland qualification
In-house legal experience in relevant industry desirable
Demonstrated experience in reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts for goods, services and technology/IST, practice of commercial law
Experienced in advising on legal and commercial options
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent technical contract drafting and negotiation skills
Problem solving - experienced in identifying and analysing key information to make balanced and appropriate decisions
Ability to manage relationships successfully
Proven ability to balance and prioritise a large workload in a fast-paced environment
Technical accuracy and good judgment
