Legal Counsel - Investment Manager


Position: Permanent, full-time

Level: 2 Year PQE as a rough guide

Salary: Competitive + Bonus + Benefits

Location: London, UK

Reporting to: Chief Legal & Compliance Director

Direct Reports: N/A

WFH: 3 Days office-based



The Role


As the legal Counsel will work proactively to provide effective support within a boutique investment firm. In the position, you will be responsible for all legal administration and support the corporate legal work for the business.


Responsibilities


  • Assist with drafting and reviewing legal documents such as contracts, memorandums and agreements, liaising with various third parties and senior management
  • Work across all departments, ensuring compliance with applicable processes and regulations issued by regulatory bodies and best practices
  • Work with the Head of Legal & Compliance to ensure policies and procedures are updated in line with current legislation and best practice
  • Drafting Partnership Agreements
  • Reorganising the corporate structure with the closing of entities
  • Responsibility for Companies Act compliance, including Companies House filings as well as overseeing overseas statutory and regulatory compliance and filings as appropriate
  • Maintaining company records including Statutory Books and Registers
  • Support the maintenance of Personal Holdings data and files
  • Assist team in drafting and submitting regulatory filings
  • Assist with answering queries from all departments


Essential Skills & Experience


  • UK Qualified Lawyer or similar qualification
  • At least 2 years of relevant post-qualification experience as a rough guide
  • Previous legal experience in an investment management firm ideally, or experience within a financial service or a law firm
  • Knowledge and awareness of laws, regulations, and legal procedures within a small asset management firm
  • Demonstrated skills in legal research and document drafting
  • Experience working closely with senior management
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Organised and ability to work methodically to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High level of discretion, understands the importance of confidential and sensitive information
  • Self-motivated and able to use own initiative
  • Ability to work in a small team and get involved in a hands-on capacity
