  • Role: Legal Secretary - Notary
  • Hours: 20 per week; pattern to be agreed but must include Tuesday & Thursday 9am - Midday
  • Salary: Dependent on experience
  • Location: Waterlooville (PO7 7SG)


We are currently looking for an experienced Legal Secretary to provide a total support service to the Notary Public to enable them to operate at optimum efficiency, including but not limited to the main responsibilities given below.


  • Preparing correspondence and documents using audio typing, word processing or digital dictation methods.
  • Administering filing systems which will include file opening and closing, ensuring the Notary Public’s Protocol records are kept up to date.
  • Attending clients both in person and on the telephone, doing so in a professional and friendly manner in line with the firm’s standards for client care.
  • Making appointments, arrange meetings and maintain an up-to-date diary for the Notary Public.
  • Supporting the Notary Public in reviewing client matters to ensure excellence in execution of notarial work.
  • Preparing mail and enclosures for dispatch and to arrange for all copying to be done.


Job Requirements

Our ideal candidate will be someone with proven experience as a legal secretary, ideally in probate or conveyancing. They will have exceptional attention to detail and the ability to communicate in a friendly, professional and confidential manner. The role will suit those with a positive and flexible approach and an ability to remain calm under pressure in order to project the image and ethos of the firm at all times.


Whilst character is important to us we do require a certain level of experience and qualification to succeed in this role. These are:


  • a minimum of 5 years experience in a Legal Secretary role (or comparable)
  • the right to work in the United Kingdom - sponsorship of such right will not be provided.


The successful candidate will also require a satisfactory DBS check.
