Job Description

As a Systems Engineer and member of the infrastructure team at a leading trading firm you will be building and maintaining trading infrastructure hyper-optimized for low-latency, operating systems, automation software, and development tools that allow our research and trading strategies to run worldwide 24/7.

You will have the opportunity to identify improvement opportunities in our environment, architecting, and deploying end-to-end solutions focused on simplicity and automation. Much of our hardware and operating system layers reflect the state-of-the-art at any given time.

Essential Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Linux systems, with hands-on experience in managing and troubleshooting Linux-based environments.
  • Experience working in environments encompassing virtualization, networking devices, and storage.
  • Demonstrable experience in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and optimizing production systems.

Skills

  • Experience using deployment and automation tools such as Ansible, Airflow, and Jenkins for maintaining robust production environments.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker.
  • Comfortable with a range of current software development tools and practices (testing, source control, build systems, CI/CD, etc.)
  • Attention to detail needed to manage and debug production services.
  • Experience with research clusters and implementing tools such as Slurm workload manager.

Job Duties

  • Own the lifecycle of our Linux-based servers and applications across our multiple business environments.
  • Automate and troubleshoot a broad range of technical infrastructure.
  • Implement and support performance monitoring and fault monitoring systems.
  • Compile, package, install, and upgrade software and operating system components.
  • Create repeatable, and deterministic server builds with collaborative input from development, trading, and hardware teams.
  • Be an expert resource for performance tuning of the operating system, kernel, and server hardware.
