Job Description

Based in Exmouth near Exeter, our client offers a range of legal services to businesses and individuals to include Conveyancing & Property, Family & Litigation, Probate, Tax, Wills and Power of Attorney as well as immigration and Visas. Clients are based in devon, the Southwest and throughout the UK.

Although the firm undertakes such commercial work as its clients’ instruct, it is and has been throughout its history basically a Private Client firm. The bulk of its work has been the non-contentious business of local individuals and businesses including property dealings of all natures and a substantial proportion of its workload is involved in Trusts and Probate and the administration of Estates.

Main Purpose of the Role

  • To undertake fee earning work and provide a profitable contribution to the work of the Civil Litigation department
  • Ensure the successful development of the firm in order to achieve progress in the business plan

Qualifications

  • Be a UK qualified solicitor / Legal Executive for 2 years PQE+
  • Be able to work independently with minimal supervision#

Experience and Education

  • 2+ years’ PQE with an excellent academic background.

Person specification
You must have a good understanding of the law and practice relating to Civil Litigation as well as an understanding of the obligations of the Civil Procedure Rules.

Key Responsibilities

Managing Civil Litigation matters, with a particular focus on:

  • Running your own varied caseload of Litigations cases
  • Taking instructions and funding
  • Deal with client queries over the phone and in person
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders and third parties
  • Undertake necessary pre-action litigation
  • Draft and prepare proceedings, schedule of loss, pleadings, witness statement and necessary court documents as required
  • Prepare, advise and draft necessary documents for applications
