Job summary Northampton General Hospital are looking for 2 Locum Consultant Community Paediatricians pending a substantive appointment. These posts offer an exciting opportunity for those Paediatricians who wish to work in a large District General Hospital setting which has a fully integrated Child Health Department. You will join a creative multi-disciplinary team that is forward thinking in shaping the healthcare of the children and young people of Northamptonshire as it evolves to the needs of the growing population. You will be part of a team of supportive consultants; with the opportunity to further develop a complimentary subspecialty interest within the Community Paediatric service . We seek to support any complimentary personal professional development and interest.The Children's community services at Northampton General hospital work closely with our special schools and health centres helping to bring services out into the community as well as having hospital-based services. Main duties of the job Our multidisciplinary teams run a wide range of comprehensive services to our patients including: Child Development ServiceDedicated Children's Outpatients on 2 sitesAutism Spectrum Disorder ServiceADHD and QB testing ServiceChildren in Care service including Pre-adoption medicals and initial Health assessments.Community based Child development services - special schools/health centresCommunity based nursing teamsAudio vestibular medicine serviceChildren's safeguarding service Typical Community Paediatric Consultant's job profile includes To provide expertise in the assessment, investigation, and continuity of care of children presenting with a range of developmental, genetic and neurological problems.To provide expert assessment of children presenting with social communication /neurodevelopmental disordersTo provide clinical assessment and opinion in children presenting with safeguarding concerns. Participation in a child protection on call rota, covering normal working hours Monday-Friday. Job description Job responsibilities To provide consultant led community paediatric services within the area of south Northamptonshire. This will include regular out-patient clinics, assessments of children within the CDC and liaison with schools and education authorities as necessary.The locality community paediatric workload will involve the assessment and management of children with neurodevelopmental difficulties. Experience in the management of ADHD, ASD, Learning difficulties and associated comorbidities is necessary. Expected base of work is at Northampton General Hospital, however there are some clinics done in the locality.Contribution to multidisciplinary assessment and management in a collaborative way with all members of the team.Experience in safeguarding children is essential and it is expected that the candidate will be confidant in working closely with multiagency partners and be Level 3 trained.To provide paediatric advice and support for pupils attending a Special School Person Specification Qualifications & Training Essential MRCPCH or equivalent CCT for Community Child Health or evidence of Level 3 competencies in Community Child Health On the GMC specialist register or within 3 months of CCT 5 years Higher Specialist Training, including 3 years in Community Paediatrics At least 2 years General Professional Training in paediatrics Training and experience of safeguarding work and possession of up to date Level 3 Safeguarding training Full registration with General Medical Council Desirable MSc, MD, PhD or other higher degree DCH, DCCH, MBA or other relevant diplomas Knowledge & Skills Essential Willing to work unsupervised and make decisions Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team Teaching & Audit Essential Experience of Audit Teaching Junior Staff Academic Achievements & Research Desirable Publications in recognised journals Research projects relating to speciality Formal research training; demonstrated ability to design a research or audit project Formal training in teaching methods; demonstrated ability in teaching / training Personal Skills Essential Organisational Skills Good written and oral communication skills Leadership Skills Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively Self motivated to be able to develop their specialty.
