A Locum Consultant position has arisen within the department of Dermatology based at Barts Health NHS Trust, with the primary site being the Royal London Hospital. The successful candidate will join twenty existing consultants and six specialist registrars in delivering a broad range of Dermatology services as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will play a key role in meeting the increasing demand of complex secondary/tertiary surgical dermatology care referrals.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic individual with the appropriate skills to join a first class multi-disciplinary team providing the full range of services to the majority of East London and beyond in a progressive London teaching hospital environment. Main duties of the job

The advertised post is for a locum consultant in Dermatology at the Royal London Hospital, Bart's Health NHS Trust specializing in paediatrics and surgery. This post is a 6 month fixed-term position to support the large and expanding Dermatology team's strategy in developing a regional center of excellence for the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers. The successful candidate will also join sixteen existing consultants, six specialist registrars and two clinical fellows in delivering a broad range of Dermatology services as part of a multi-disciplinary team

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing the paediatric and surgery service by providing specialist clinical care as well as improving collaborative patient care with other specialties.

Responsibilities of the post

The post holder will be expected to contribute to the centres strategy in broadening participation in clinical trials to offer patients access to novel treatments. The post holder will be expected to participate actively in multisite research programmes and initiatives under the guidance of the Research and Development department and within the guidelines of Trust policies

Extensive research facilities exist at Barts Health NHS Trust. Research will be actively encouraged within the department and in conjunction with other departments of the hospital and St. Bartholomew's and the Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary College where there is an unusually wide range of research activity (both quantitative and qualitative

  • GMC
  • MRCP (or equivalent)

  • Comprehensive clinical training in General Medical conditions
  • General Dermatology diagnostic and treatment procedures
  • Experience of working in multidisciplinary clinics
  • Inpatient care for those who require inpatient treatment
