Job Description

We're looking for an M&A Analyst to join our team in London as part of our Strategy function.

Opportunity to join a dynamic M&A team helping Ascential accelerate their global growth strategy through identifying and executing strategic acquisitions, disposals and partnerships. We are looking for an experienced M&A Analyst who will support us across:

  • End to end deal execution process of M&A transactions including acquisitions, disposals and investments. The majority of our deals are cross-border
  • Deal origination, including assessment of the potential prospects and their relevance to Ascential’s strategy

Key Responsibilities

  • Support in acquisition targets origination including research, filtering and presentation of suitable targets to the Ascential leadership team
  • Design, build and manage detailed forecast and valuation models including scenario analysis, discounted cash flow, and assessment of financial impact for contemplated M&A transactions
  • Act as a focal point during the due diligence process, including management of advisers, maintaining questions log and ensuring identified risks are addressed
  • Interact and build relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and drive the transaction process 

Your Qualifications & Experience

  • ACA/CFA or MSc degree in Finance or Economics discipline
  • Ideally at least 2 years of relevant experience in M&A execution (Investment banking, corporate development, private equity, VC or equivalent experience)
  • Experience of due diligence and transaction execution processes required
  • Very strong financial modelling skills and experience of building/maintaining operating models required
  • Experience of financial valuations with knowledge of DCF, merger modelling, comparable companies, precedent transactions required
  • Exposure to covenant testing and, EPS accretion analysis would be beneficial
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

IT Experience

  • Strong Excel modelling and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience of GSuite useful but not essential
  • Solid business understanding, with ability to analyse past / projected business performance
  • Strong analytical and technical capabilities, with ability to undertake financial analyses, model potential performance outcomes and present insights in a clear, concise manner
  • Exposure to the SaaS, Tech, eCommerce, Media, or Marketing Technology sectors would be beneficial, but not essential

Personal Attributes

  • Must be a good team player but also able to work autonomously and have the ability to work under pressure
  • Solid work ethic, personal integrity, initiative and strong attention to detail
  • Intellectually curious, with a hunger to learn about the digital commerce, marketing and consumer insight sectors
  • Able to work globally and able to adapt approach to take account of different cultures
