The Opportunity
Multi-skilled engineer responsible for ensuring safe and efficient operations through effective and efficient planned maintenance and reactive repairs to the site machinery and infrastructure.
The MSE will have an electrical background and a continuous improvement mindset to identify route causes and ensure effective solutions are put in place.
You will be responsible for;
Planning implement and develop a comprehensive maintenance program that includes preventive and predictive maintenance to ensure good reliability in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendation, safety and good industry practices.
Reacting to issues with machinery and site infrastructure when they arise including attending breakdowns, fault finding and remedying in a timely and cost effective manner ensure site and equipment is safe and fully operational.
Organising and supervise engineering contract and trade services to carry out equipment servicing, routine inspections, repairs or project work.
Communicating with operations management to ensure work is planned effectively to minimise downtime.
Optimizing the inventory of site materials, parts, and equipment for repair and maintenance and identify opportunities to continuously improve reliability to minimize repair costs.
Overseeing site infrastructure including security and waste management
Providing expertise in support of process and product improvements and developments within operations.
Ownership of small projects from identification to conclusion of design out of issues / process improvements or support Project Manager and/or Lead Engineer on larger projects with knowledge and contractor supervision.
The job holder must be prepared to be on call outside of normal working hours to ensure downtime is kept to a minimum. Some weekend shutdown work may be required.
What will make you successful?
Multi-skilled engineer, time served with an electrical engineering / electro-mechanical background
Training in 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
Experience of writing, authorizing and accepting of permits to work.
Safety training (IOSH, NEBOSH) preferred but training will be provided.
Experience working in a manufacturing facility would be an advantage as would experience with plumbing, compressed air and industrial ovens.
Self motivated individual with good fault finding and problem solving skills.
Strong listening, communication and collaborative skills are essential.
Aware of and able to work to engineering and health and safety legislation.
Knowledge of writing, and working to, risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
