On successful appointment you will implement the company risk-based maintenance strategy to improve plant performance through management and coordination of maintenance execution employees.

Responsibilities

EHSQ

  • Responsible for EHSQ performance by maintaining a management presence on site for the purpose of delivering exceptional safety standards and drive compliance with site procedures removing any barriers to compliance.
  • Ensure all maintenance tasks are executed in accordance with company and statutory, environmental, health and safety standards to ensure provision of a safe working environment including the Company’s obligations under COMAH legislation.

People

  • Selection, training, mentoring and coaching Maintenance Supervisors and Technicians along with the 1st line personnel management including grievances and disciplines, timekeeping, attendance and sickness.
  • Review and implementation of the Maintenance Competency Management system for Maintenance Supervisors and Technicians ensuring that competency development milestones are achieved and maintained.
  • Builds a diverse, inclusive and engaged team that has ownership for the plant and actively responds to call outs and plant requirements across area and discipline boundaries.

Maintenance

  • Agreement of the planned and arising work maintenance priority with operations via the work order risk prioritisation process.
  • Ensures that P1’s are field planned and executed via the area Maintenance Supervisor and team.
  • Monitors performance through productivity, schedule compliance, PM backlog and planned defect backlog and recommends actions to improve and sustain performance.
  • Responsible for managing selected minor outages, projects, breakdowns and work packages.

Costs

  • Manage and deliver cost and timescale budgets previously agreed with the Maintenance Manager.

Turnarounds and Events

  • Works with the Turnaround Manager to define the maintenance requirements for each Turnaround/Event and liaises with the planning and turnaround team to ensure that area requirements are met.

Experience

The ideal candidate will have a thorough working knowledge of maintenance practices as well as experience of effectively managing teams and individuals to deliver results and meet prescribed goals.

The mentoring and coaching of operations personnel in maintenance strategy, policies and procedures is an important feature of this role and hence strong interpersonal skills are essential in both leading the maintenance team and others beyond the job holder’s direct authority.

Skills and Competencies

  • Experience in managing teams, delivering results through others and performance management of individuals and teams (Staff and Contractors).
  • Experience in controlling costs, managing budgets and ensuring targets are met during maintenance execution.
  • Highly experienced in maintenance and engineering contractor management on a top tier COMAH site.
  • Tenacious in ensuring work is completed in a timely and satisfactory fashion.
  • Strong knowledge of asset maintenance as well as maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Proficient and confident in presentation skills to write and deliver to senior leaders.

Qualifications

The job holder will be qualified to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline with a minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance management or will have gained significant practical experience in managing and coordinating maintenance teams.
