Burman Recruitment is working with a UK leading University to recruit a Reactive Maintenance Manager on an interim basis.

Responsibilities:
- Line management responsibility for the DLO Reactive tradesmen, maintenance assistants and apprentices, including recruitment, induction, staff development and training, conducting PDR’s, performance management where necessary and clarity on the priorities and objectives for the Reactive Maintenance Team and the wider Estates function. Undertake recruitment and induction training as required.
- To monitor and manage sickness & absence levels within the DLO team and production of periodic reporting for the Deputy Head of Reactive Maintenance.
- Management of welfare issues within the DLO team.Reporting issues that cannot be resolved to the Deputy Head of Reactive Maintenance.
- Ensure that DLO team are competent, adequately trained (including the use of handheld devices) and work strictly in accordance with the safe working policy and procedures. This should include the maintenance of records systems to support this process, which must comply with university retention procedures. Assist with the development and upkeep of the training matrix.
- To ensure that the Reactive Maintenance Team is effectively co-ordinated and that handovers of tasks and information between the Reactive and Programme Maintenance Teams is efficient and effective.
- To provide technical advice and support to the DLO teams and others. Undertake all necessary training to maintain competency levels.
- Develop and maintain clear escalation procedures for major defects.
- Oversight of the University’s own District heating and gas systems to ensure minimal disruption to university operation in the event of leaks or downtime.
- Oversight of the University’s HV substation maintenance.
