Management Accountant (12-Month Fixed Term)

Location: London

Salary: 70k


A FTSE listed Commercial Real Estate business require a senior finance leader to join the team to be a collaborative business partner developing a strong working relationship between the Real Estate Investment Management team and wider finance.


The business is structured as a Real Estate Investment Trust and manages arguably one of the best, and most valuable, prime Central London portfolios consisiting office, retail, leisure, residential and food & beverage.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the finance function delivers robust, timely financial data for decision-making.
  • Manage the end-to-end NRI process, including producing quarterly NRI statements and ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to accounting standards and Group policies.
  • Produce quarterly variance analysis, explaining material variances in rental income and expenses against budget, forecast, and prior year.
  • Assist in the annual budget process and quarterly re-forecasting, focusing on property cost management and reporting.
  • Draft approval papers for new lettings, renewals, reviews, and costs, highlighting potential risks or concerns.
  • Perform covenant reviews for prospective and current tenants as needed.
  • Prepare quarterly accounting journals, including bad debt provision and turnover accrual.
  • Monitor and report on non-recoverable costs, ensuring timely invoicing/accrual.
  • Prepare bi-annual balance sheet reconciliations, resolve issues promptly, and provide supporting documentation.
  • Prepare quarterly reporting and compliance packs for submission to the Board, JV partners, and external lenders.
  • Liaise with the Financial Reporting team to ensure accurate reflection of major financial transactions in accounts.
  • Work with internal and external auditors to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Assist with quarterly VAT submissions and support tax team compliance submissions and reviews.
  • Develop relationships with key business stakeholders to improve communication and ensure cost discipline and accurate, relevant, and timely management reports.
  • Support the Head of Operational Finance with budget analysis


Essential Skills and Experience:

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in compiling management accounts and variance analysis.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Beneficial experience with Power BI and PowerPoint.
  • Advantageous exposure to IFRS.
  • Real estate knowledge and experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Agresso General Ledger and MRI Horizon is a plus.
