A bit about the role...
Working in a team with Michelle Parry, our Head of Development Finance, the Development Finance Manager will play a critical role in reviewing, structuring and negotiating new development finance debt proposals that enable SME developers to build and deliver new homes.
You will be joining our enthusiastic team who are committed to driving diversification, competition and innovation in the housing market. We do this by supporting new entrants, growing existing developers and focussing on new housing products such as modern methods of construction and custom build.
We are dedicated to delivering positive change in how small to medium sized developers can access funding and deliver their housing projects. We aim to resolve challenges where possible, taking an innovative and creative approach to risk issues.
The role provides the opportunity to lead transactions of your own whilst ensuring you have the support and training to do so successfully. Michelle believes in working in a collaborative and flexible way and highly values diversity in experience and perspective to foster good decision making and problem solving within the team.
This is a rare chance to support the creation of a housing market that works, in a fast growing, national organisation with real social purpose.
A bit about you…
You'll be comfortable analysing project information including cashflows, attending site visits, presenting to internal teams such as Risk and liaising with SME developers as needed. Our day job is to deliver first class customer service; you will be used to "spinning several plates" at once and will always be looking for ways to improve.
Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn’t always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as a Development Finance team. You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.
As an experienced Finance or Real Estate professional you’ll understand how to project manage the funding of new housing projects and be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way.
Who are we?
We are the Government’s national housing agency. Our role is to accelerate the pace of house-building across the country, particularly in areas where there are the most serious affordability issues – meaning people are struggling to find homes.
We have the appetite, influence, expertise and resources to drive positive market change and meet the Government’s ambition to deliver 300,000 new homes a year. We are using our land, influence, funds and knowledge to increase the pace, scale and quality of new homes accelerating delivery in areas of greatest demand and helping create great places to live. Within the next few years, we will have invested over £27 billion across our programmes. To deliver against these aims we’re building a different kind of public service - join us to help make this happen.
We would encourage all applicants to apply as soon as possible as we may close vacancies early should we receive a high number of applications. We also encourage you to apply using the full application option as opposed to quick apply, this is especially important if you would like to indicate to us that you would like to be considered under the disability confident scheme.
If your application is shortlisted to interview we will require you to provide proof of your right to work in the UK at that stage.
Homes England are a geographically diverse community. We are all hybrid working at the moment spending some of our time working from home and some based at our offices which are spread across England. The wellbeing of our colleagues remains one of our top priorities.
